I have a pellet mould and want a heavier pellets my thought was to fill the entire skirt area with lead would it work or will it throw off the centered weight ? Does the skirt expand when shot ? Would it stabilize ?

Pellets are drag stabilized Filling the skirt will change the CG but not sure what the results would be in flight?

Filling the skirt with lead will move the center of mass further back, closer to the center of pressure. This reduction in the distance between the two will decrease the pellet's stability.

Do you have pins that create the skirt cavity? Many mold manufacturers have different pin lengths to experiment with.

Maybe drilling out the waist area of the pellet mold a bit larger would add weight but not change the flight ? , hate to destroy a mold to find out .

im a caster. full fill in the pellet skirts is a bad idea. it kills accuracy. I have molds that have changeable pins for different weight pellets from the same mold. no one yet has been able to utilize full filled pellet skirts and kept accuracy intact. new molds from NOE no longer have pins to do full filled as they arent a good pellet in that form. Dont ruin a mold or pin set in an attempt to find out.
