Peri and I took holy grail 2 (evol hps) out to 100 today

Well the @americanairarmsofficial evol does it again. It's all I want in my rifle room now. I was going to try this for prs and maybe I might be able to still and run the same tune for slug and pellet but I think this rifle is going to be my 100y br rifle.

These groups were shot in typical @CTAirgunner fashion and @AirGun_Addicts_Anonymous and many others know, that means with haste lol

These are 1 magazine groups so 11 shots per group at 100 yards. I know for a fact I could have done better.

I will say it again, THESE RIFLES ARE SICK!

Shooting monster redesigns at 955 fps.

Oh and the tastey meal is another thing I'm known for around here, always cooking that healthy stuff :)

Go directly to whatever website (NOW!) you ordered that batch of MRDs from and buy as many as you can afford. If your plan is to hang into this gun long-term, you might even consider cleaning out that retailer.
And cross your fingers that what they send you is the same batch as what you shot this evening.

Not all batches of MRDs will shoot like that.

The skirts on these were absolutely terrible , as I'm loading I'm going wow will this group be this good. Everyone says this though about them but I've shot them from 2 different cans so far n no issues. I'm not a sorter either.

I rarely mention pellet condition when I discuss groups dont kno why maybe because i dont sort and ill load even if the skirt tails are bent terribly, at NAC I specifically shot bench each day with a new can of mk2s. Just to be , that guy.

Definitely not buying a rifle to depend on batches of ammo either lol I'm just going to keep on shooting it.

I wasn't trying to rain on your parade but rather just wanted to be helpful.

I've got 3 or 4 dozen empty tins of . 22 MRDs stacked up, shot from a pretty decent representation of high end guns. As I said before, some batches are good, REALLY good (like what you shot yesterday) but some batches are horrible.

I'm also not a sorter. I did five or six tins ONCE. Took so long and was so monotonous that I concluded the crap batches would be practice pellets.

The .22 MRDs are the worst offender for batch to match variation. I don't have stacks of good and bad batches for any other pellet. If you're shooting in competitions, you'll want more tins of what you shot yesterday.

Now, the EVOL could be the unicorn that somehow shoots crap batches of MRDs as well as it shoots quality batches, but it'd be a sad thing for you to learn the hard way, right in the middle of a big competition when you open a new tin.

As for the mangled skirts, I personally don't think the edges of the skirts have as large of an effect on accuracy as does the pellets balance. Hard thing to prove, but I personally think the crap batches of MRDs are off balance/not concentric to the pellets central axis.

Great groups @CTairgunner1288 . I can see where @Franklink is coming from with advising to get some spare batches of ammo. I've done it before, twice, but with very different results each time. With the Hades, the first tins from their initial manufacturing were very good with weight consistency so those tins didn't need sorting. I bought 5 more then thinking that they'd be just as good, but I spent several hours sorting out for weight. A different occasion with slugs, just buying bulk, I unintentionally acquired the last of a design of ammo that is now not produced. I covet those like little pieces of gold because they are really accurate.

I’ve had my fare share of issues with the mrd’s also.

To add to your bend skirt comment. I think the buddy of air may play a big role in straightening those skirts up before they leave the barrel. Not sure of a way to prove it without being able to photograph the pellet in flight after leaving the barrel, but it makes sense on not affecting accuracy.

This thing is pushing these pellets at 955 fps through a 500 mm barrel basically .... with that said I'm wondering if @Franklink may be right, maybe the hps can just sling em!?!?!?

i definitely think @madeintheuk is on to something with it bending the thing skirts back...

Who knows, when I shoot tomorrow I'll try again with another new tin

I have shot a bunch this year so far and never sorted.

33.95s
15.89s
18.13s
25.39s

Etc etc , never sorted never looked at much just load and shoot. I refuse to sort haha

Nice shooting. Wait until you get a batch of Redesigns and Jumbo Monsters all mixed together in one tin lol. I was wondering why I was getting flyers with my Paradigm .22 and someone mentioned the mixing of the 2 pellet designs. The worst part is that I bought a whole batch of them and now have to sort them out.

This tin is labeled Redesigned but the majority of them are the older Jumbo Monsters. 🤦‍♂️

That should be brought up to the retailer and JSB and you get tins that are confirmed RDs. That's what you paid for. The old ones suck
