Pest Control.. How do you get permissions? Farms and Industrial/warehouse/buildings..

I would like to find some permissions around my new place, im surrounded by farms and industrial buildings, shipping center, warehouses etc. IDEALLY i would like to find some places i can get a couple bucks to do pest control for (to cover pellets and gas).. im just not sure how to go about asking, i want to be respectful, i dont want to come off as a d!ck for whatever reason..

I go to the co-op for feed and other things and when I’m there I talk to the guys on the loading bay and behind the counter. They know now but I started off by asking about the pest and if they knew farmers that had an issue. Word of mouth and always asking soon I had leads and it wasn’t a blind show up at the gate. Most are busy and don’t like strangers lol
I don’t do it to get paid though, I just enjoy the trigger time glad they let me.
It’s worked for me and may want to try it.

FORGET ABOUT MONEY before you even have a foot in a door! At 1st they're doing YOU the favor by giving you the opportunity. It takes a while to prove yourself to a property owner & show what you're doing is beneficial, worthwhile, responsible & SAFE to property and/or livestock. Don't have expectations & don't get ahead of yourself. You might want to print up fliers to introduce yourself, what you'd like to do & how it would benefit a land owner versus poison or traps & assure them you won't cause problems! Post them on bulletin boards at farm & feed stores or hand deliver when introducing yourself.
BTW I've had a # of permissions (mostly by word of mouth) for about 6 years now. Only recently have I mentioned that I wouldn't refuse a little help with $ to offset gas & ammo costs & ONLY if they felt what I do is beneficial for them. They know how effective I've been & they're happy to help but even if they don't I'm still grateful I get to do what I love & partake of the beauty of the properties.

Yeah, don't t bring up money. Preferably ever.
And yeah, the local dairy farmer here is always busy as well. I love chatting with him but I try to be respectful of his time and not bother him too much.

The first time I met him I told him that I 'm shooting a high end air rifle which has the power level of a .22 rimfire.
It wouldn't hurt to have something to shoot indoors too.

I had watched the bird infestation for some time so it was easy to just go say hello and ask if they like them birds. The first day I dropped 58 pigeons in less than two hours. Needless to say he was impressed.
After that I had a free pass day and night.
Been shooting rats as well.

Birds are super smart and they keep their distance nowadays. They won't stay put when I drive my white pickup truck on the premises. First they hopped 50 yards away and now they take off and wake up the neighborhood. I'm not much for camouflage.

Those $$$ signs in your eyes will keep you out of 99.9% of the places I have permission. A better question would be how much do I have to pay YOU to do pest control on your property SIR?

Yes, I agree with all about not asking or expecting money in return for your "pest control" work. Things get complicated when money is involved. Such as liability, permit and expectation. Be thankful if a farmer is willing to give you a chance to shoot at his farm. I started with one permission and through word of mouth, I got a few over the years. Farmers trust me and give me full access without any question after I had proven myself to them that I am responsible and respectful to their property and most importantly, my airgun shooting has effectively help reduced the pests population or deterred them to return when I am on site.

Anyway, good luck and hopefully you will get that first permission.
