"Kim"Nice! Looks like a great day.

Mike it seems like your shooting bags are no disadvantage!

Kim
Thanks Kim
It was a Wonderful day to be outside shooting!
The bags might not be a disadvantage.....But...
It sure would be nice to have a shooting rest like the rest of the guys are using....lol
That's going to be my next major purchase for me....A Randolph machine shooting rest...They're just so nice!!

"Kim"I'm afraid to get one because then I would have no excuses for missing ;)

I know what you mean...right now I would like to think that I have the "excuse" for missing because I am only using bags.😉
i just wonder if I had better equipment, would my scores reflect it? Guess that is the question on most bench rest shooter's minds.
There is still so much I have to learn, need to learn in order for me to be a better shooter.
Definetly need to learn more about how to gauge the wind and how to compensate for it.
All part of the enjoyment this sport bring to me
Can't wait for the next match

To me the most challenging aspect is how to evaluate variables of accuracy. Say you got a mechanical rest, then shoot better in two matches, but worse in the 3rd. Conditions? Pellet variation? Scope? Bad form day? Random variation?

Ideally one could shoot a bunch of practice targets with and without a change (new rest, etc), and average the scores (or group sizes) to look for differences. This lends itself to statistical analysis, but even then it's difficult.

I've been doing this recently with a group-size pellet comparison (.22 JSB vs AA). So far the results are equivocal and I can't prove there is any difference in accuracy.
