Could be the pressure gauge itself is faulty and leaking
My thought exactly.
When mine blew apart I replaced it with a suitable bolt just to get out hunting.
There's a pressure gauge on the scuba tank fill system and it was easy enough just to shoot all my two mags before topping up.

The P15 type is probably the best platform to tinker.

Nah, the AF single shot platform is both the simplest and varied for tinkering. Parts options are available from multiple vendors and the options are WELL proven due to the longevity of the platform.

Sure. I was thinking repeaters. Are all Air Force rifles regulated?
None stock as far as I know. But very easy to do. Take the valve off the bottle, insert regulator. M18-1.5 threads so Huben Power Dream Universal drop block or the Cricket Max-ATH just plug right in. Bigger bottle, just screws on on. Want to go from .177 to .25, sure, barrel change is 5 minutes. Want to jack up the power? High flow valve, heavy spring, heavy hammer, 15 minutes. How big a tank and how much power are yours to decide.

My .22 Talon with 1.1L bottle, Max-ATH regulator.
Internal: 90g hammer, heavy spring, 19 inch barrel.
When i cranked the regulator up to 3000psi, the power wheel to 10 with the heavy hammer and spring I got 1100FPS and around 70FPE with 25.4gr .22 Apolo Monster pellets. Which is double what I got with the stock 12 inch barrel, hammer and spring.

Now I run at 1800psi and get 40FPE and hundreds of shots per fill. 50CC plenum on the Max-ATH is a great addition.

I also had to break out my Dremel to fix the trigger problem. The correct way would have been to shim the trigger. I was just in too much of a hurry & I used the Dremel. I think Chinese engineers spec their products on the loose side so that assembly goes by without a hitch. I would like to see a video of SPA production of Airguns! But I know that won't happen soon. Hope you can find your leak.
