Plano 36 Inch Tactical Hard Case - Lots of pictures!

I purchased this case for my Benjamin Marauder Pistol. I got it from Amazon for 65 bucks.

They also have a 42 inch model.

This case exceeded my expectations. I have used many many hard cases in the past for various projects and work applications. Including the industry standard, Pelican cases. This case from Plano really surprised me with its quality and value.

- The first thing I noticed was the case is lightweight but not at all flimsy.

- The clasps work very well and even include locks with a key. My only gripe would be that there might be too many of them! The latch in the center near the handle is unnecessary in my opinion. But, I assume it has something to do with keeping the case water proof.

- The hinges are sturdy and enclose the pin in such a way that it cannot ever work it's way out.

- The thing I am most pleased with is the Pick N Pluck foam that is included. It is VERY forgiving and easy to work with. In the past, I have struggled with pulling the foam apart without ripping it. This foam pulls apart in a very predictable and controllable way. Much better than any I've ever used before. It only took me about 10 minutes to pull the foam apart while fitting my gun to the case.

I have had my PRod in a soft (AR Style) case for a few years, and I was always so nervous that it would get damaged or bent. It's such a relief to finally have it protected properly. I am completely satisfied with this case from Plano, and I definitely plan to use more of them for my other guns.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I have a couple of Plano all weather / tactical cases and they are a good value and a nice case. Comparing to some of my Pelicans, the Planos are more flexible in the lids, not as rigid. Potential for more flexing into the rifle, when weight is applied to the top or bottom. If I was going the airline route, I would stick with Pelican. For heading to the shoot site in my vehicle, the Plano is a GREAT alternative and a MAJOR money saver. Nice cases for sure! They have come a long way in the last 5 years.

Note: there are cheap Planos and then there are the Tactical/all weather cases which are a design that is way superior to their light duty units. Yes, they are a direct shot at higher end cases like Pelican, and they are not as nice, BUT they are about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a Pelican and depending on your use, they can be the perfect solution for you. Plano can often be associated with cheap junk, but their nicer models should not be overlooked. They offer a very good value and good protection!
