Where are you guys seeing a missing breech seal?

it’s clearly in the photo looking through the barrel at the rifling. Did I miss something?

I see it clearly too. It must be a shared hallucination from the cigar smoke.

I think they are looking at the barrel nut recess thinking it's the breech seal groove.

HW's don't use o-rings. I guess you could use o-rings if you stacked them up. I wouldnt. A proper breech seal is easy to find and replace.

If you need a new breech seal just order a handfull. They are widely available from several sources.

Interesting! I didn't even realize FX had there own rings or that they were available in dovetail mount, with adjustable moa. I don't know how, but I missed that one.

I was looking for a set of those when i was shooting long range and running out of adjustment. I didn't want the scopes elevation adjustment against it's stops especially with a springer beating on it. I wound up with a set West Hunters, that turned out to be hieght adjustable, but not moa adjustable.

I wound up modifying them to work and they do work well and look good

They do look good with that blue laminate for sure. How did you modify them for MOA?

Breech seals for the 97/77 are now $10 a piece if you can believe that..lol. IDK about the other styles, but if you grab a hand full then you are going to drop $100 bill. I bought some when they were around $4 a piece long ago.

So how many o-rings would you stack in a breakbarrel gun to save a $10 bill?

I honestly don't know how much a breech seal is nowadays. But I figure with about $1000 bucks into my HW95 I wouldn't have a problem buying one.

When I bought my rifle (AOA) I ordered 3 spares and they threw them in for free. I have 2 left (I've broken more springs than breech seals by a factor of 3x).

I won't buy a "handfull" and it will be a lot cheaper. I'll just get a couple from Vortek when I order my kit to replace that #@%$ factory spring and it will be $20 well spent.

I wouldn't stack o-rings at all unless the gun came with them, like the prosport. The after market breech seals I tried in my 97K sucked, the factory seal is superior in my experience.
The breech seal for the break barrels may be cheaper than the 97/77 seals, which are $10 and ridiculously priced IMO. But you got to have them, so you cough up the doe. I've never tried any of the vortek stuff.

They have two pieces the receiver and scope mount which fit together with grooves.

I cut the grooves on the scope mount almost flush to allow rotation on both rings.

I used 100 grit wet paper laid out on a flat surface to cut the grooves down.

The West Hunters come in a bunch of colors BTW not just blue.

Thank you @Greenarrow for that clearer picture. Yes, I misinterpreted the op's blurry photo
No sweat! I was sweating because I didn’t see what you guys were seeing. I went back through the pictures studying them to see the bad breech seal. Then I figured it was the blurr that one photo had making the seal looked mangled around the edges. Whew! We dodged that bullet! 😆😜

Hi, everyone.

I’m the new guy, as in new to it all.
I’m 63, medical professional from far western Massachusetts.

Maybe 6 months ago I bought a $50 .177 thinking it would be fun. It was and I soon realized it was a toy and there was more out there. Not being my first rabbit hole(premium cigars), I knew the best place to find information and enablers is a forum. After scoping a few out, this was the place to be and have been lurking a few months.

You all are a wealth of information with civility throughout your disciplines.

Never shooting much of anything, and not likely to get deeply involved with the tech or tuning, I decided an HW35 and an Airmax would be a nice start. Looked around all the sites you here use and put them in a shopping cart.

Next thing I know there’s a listing on fleabay for an HW35e and a Vantage, both nib with all paperwork from AoA. He accepted $550 shipped. He had other Weihrauchs and related items. He answered all my questions, sent pics, exchanged phone#, and he had good feedback. I figured I’d rather give the money to a BOTL (brother of the lead) than a company.

I want to shoot with the irons for a while. Picked up a peep from Tech-Sights and have set coming for the stock globe.

Here’s the scope and unmarked rings it came with. Yeah, irons until I learn about scopes.

I’m looking forward to the ride. I have no expectations other than to learn something new and have fun. A new happy place.
You all are great the way you share what was shared with you. I admire and respect everyone’s knowledge and passion for shooting, whatever and however you shoot. Rondo

Rondo I like the rear sight on your rifle. I like it so much I ordered me one just like it.

I have been looking for a peep sight that wasn't a target sight for a while. The battle sight on your rifle is perfect. I didn't realize they made one like that for a 3/8" dovetail. It's not an exact fit for an 11mm rail but will work just dandy. Much better for hunting and plinking than a target peep!

Thanks for posting your rifle set up! And welcome!

Flush the cigars.
Keep the peep on the ’35
Get an HW95 for a scoped rifle and skip the adjustable mounts. You won’t need them.

In med field you know what tobacco does.
The 35 is just right for peeps
You’ll probably end up with a 95 anyway

I’m 64y, 11 mo. and put my health, fitness, and family first. And J.C.
Still working hard every day. Feels good.
We’ll be kickin’ and shooting at 95👍
Bless you
