Hey Skip,
A couple of things come to mind.....
first, what compass direction were you shooting at with both locations? What compass direction do you shoot at home? What time of day at any of the three locations? One cause for POI shift is lighting, and the time of day. Sun is in one direction in the morning, a different one at noon, etc. Same with direction at each range; where is the sun in relation to the target? something to keep in mind
Second option is shade/direct sunlight; if one area is shaded and the other in bright sunlight, the way you see the target is different depending on how much your pupils are dilated. also, if the scope is in direct sunlight, it coiuld be heating up on one side and altering the scope alignment. We get a lot of that here is AZ where, due to expansion and contraction, the sun and heat will physically change the scope shape. it is not much, but enough to minutely change POI.
third item is clothing worn. Heavier or lighter clothing being worn, and how you mount the rifle, could shift it just a bit. Wear a tee shirt and hit at one point. Wear a sweat shirt and it is ever so slightly different which can cause a little shift in POI. Been there, done that one and took a while to figure it out.
Eliminate all the variables and you might find your answer.
Hope this helps.
