You have no desire to purchase the product but you feel like you need to spend the time to "call out" someone who is selling said item based on the price they want? Do you have nothing better to do? Even if you wanted to purchase the item you have no say what so ever in how much someone initially paid for said item or what they decide to sell said item for in the future. How is it your business to decide if they made a bad financial decision? Are you his financial advisor? What credentials do you have to tell another person that they made a bad financial decision?
The OP makes no assumptions that are not also made by the writer of the ad in question, not to mention the dispensing of financial advice.
For you to state: "Even if you wanted to purchase the item you have no say what so ever [sic] in how much someone initially paid for said item or what they decide to sell said item for in the future.", is totally absurd, in my opinion. When making decisions purchasing any used item, one of the very first things I consider is, the original price of the item, i.e. how much the seller paid for it.
"Do you have nothing better to do?" Are you conducting business here? Does the following verse form KJV have any meaning to you: "Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye."

Here is my $.02. I belong to a site that has a classified section. Been there close to 20 years. The rule is you never trash anyone's classified.

Why? Because we live in a free market, and you have the right to sell anything for any price someone is willing to pay for.
I've seen plenty of adds over the years where the seller is selling something at way too high a price. And I could care less...

In a free market, they either find a buyer or they don't. The term Caveat Emptor comes to mind.

I'm not here to save save a new guy from a financial mistake...Caveat Emptor...

And either are any of you. So, my advice... You see an add that does not interest you. You move on, just like a post that you don't like or anything else.
I see an add with something "Rare" or overpriced... I chuckle. then I click off it and move on. Caveat Emptor baby...

If we truly are free, then your free to be as smart as you want...or as stupid as you want. That's what true freedom is all about. personnel responsibility.

And like my Dad always said... "Experience is what you get...when you don't get what you want"

Nope its right in his title and comment so its pretty clear if you can read.

"Reading is fundamental." It is essential that you comprehend what you read.
"He advises that you should not cry to him about not having enough money because of whatever. He indicates that maybe you should make better financial decisions rather than buying an air gun in this price range. I submit that the seller should have made a better decision than to invest so much money into a rifle you are not going to keep so you are selling it for hundreds less than you invested. Maybe he is trying to educate others and using himself as an example. Thoughts?"

Quote from op "I should have emphasized that I have no desire for the gun being discussed in the ad. It really is more than I would spend."

Yes reading is fundamental. Its pretty clear op has an issue with price. This thread has me wondering if the two 55's may even be the same person. The only thing missing from this thread and the other one is the pic of all your impacts:rolleyes:

Discernment sir. The above accusation tells me all I need to know about yours.😉

I feel like if I advertised my MK2 for an asking price of $2400 cause it has a shiny stainless fastener kit and CF liner sleeve I’d be the thread topic of discussion and critique the way some of these threads have been going.

Why criticize? Like I mentioned before, this hobby has a lot of other cool things to talk about

Wow, and it wasn't about the cost of...

Yeah. I remember that thread. Ole Nate was ripped to shreds for scalping those CPs.

Aw man...this post proves why he puts things the way he did, also this was discussed very lengthily here,

This thread is never gonna die!!! At least not as long as the ad in question keeps getting refreshed 😂

"Darn, your head is big, said the donkey to the rooster."
I think it’s you that has a head too big! Your replies often come across as though you look down on all those that don’t agree with you. Life is too short man! Do you really think complaining on a public forum is making you a better person? Or for that matter, you really think any of us actually care?

I must miss all these adds that offend. Or maybe if I don’t like the tone, I just move on.
I searched for a long time for my first pcp, a higher end gun. I was patient and found what I perceived, based on my research, a good deal. There were plenty that were close to what I wanted to spend, but I didn’t contact the seller to haggle.

The one I bought, I paid the asking price. It will be another year or more before I buy again and I will follow the same process.

So if the price is what you are willing to pay, and it’s the gun you want, buy it. I see no reason to bash if you don’t like the price or tone.

Mr. Spokesperson, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to you for taking the time from your busy day to complain...uhh, uhh, I mean to inform me -- on behalf of your group -- of how you feel about me.
I promise to work on that condescension right away. Really.
Not that anyone actually cares.

My point proven. Thanks for the solidification on the matter.
