R9 at 30 yard on stock irons with cphp.177. i need to work on my hold and squinting and narrow down the fliers. ... Oh well...
Also, try AA 7.87's - best in my HW95/R9/HW50S besides Boxed CP 7.9's that were discontinued.
Mr Deeco there likes his $6.50 a tin Wally World pellets and isn't gonna buy the better stuff but even for that, still not one bit bad shooting at 30 yards with open sights and Crosman pellets.
With my eyes and open sights, if that target was mine, it would look like I shot it with a shotgun...lol.
Yeah, I can't even see through open sights anymore! That looks pretty good to me. Better than I could do with open sights.
J~
Ya, every year it gets harder. I guess im kinda lucky i can see far , but like loading them flat head /wads im close to needing glasses.. more or less reading glasses distance. Im 60ish so ..... Also i stink at scope shooting ..Yeah, I can't even see through open sights anymore!
Naaaa... Im good as it isThat's actually not a bad group at that distance. I'd also try these, as I've had great success with them in mid powered springers:

Scope it a and you will shoot ragged hole groups for sure.
As a fellow 60+ I can feel your pain in the vision department. I really enjoy iron sights as well. I like scopes but do not care for the added bulk and weight. Also scopes add entirely different dimension to the gun. Fine for a few of my guns but I don’t want a scope on every one. With regards to irons sights however, I have gone to peep/diopter and don’t have to do the lineup between front and rear. I think you would find your groups tightening a bit (although those are very respectable groups). But more importantly is the ease and joy a peep sight brings.Ya, every year it gets harder.
