Tuning Poppet replacement

My new Avenger is a tack driver and I could not be happier with it, but it does appear to be slowly leaking. I'm losing about 400PSI per night. I have read posts saying a good shooting session can sometimes clear a minute obstruction that could be causing air loss so I will try that first. I have read many more posts that suggest this is and has been a problem with a number of air rifles over time due to inadequate material in their poppets and an replacement is the fix. I haven't been able to contact the business that sold me the gun to see what they want to do because of the holiday. In any event, I'm thinking replacing it will be prudent for long time usage without problems. Does anyone have them for purchase? Where can I get one? What is the cost?

Odoyle, Yes I read your warnings about this very issue and yes I bought one anyway. Regret? Not one bit! Whatever the issue is, there are options to resolve it and I will still have an air rifle that performs with outstanding accuracy, has the many features I desire and does not deflate my wallet at a time I cannot afford it. Many others, according to you, must feel the same way...

Bill84701-

I agree with you, completely! I made the choice knowingly and am very happy with what I got for my money. Donny FL Tatsu on the front end and a pound of duct seal inside the rear stock make it sound and feel more solid. It is the most accurate airgun I have ever owned and that is my first priority with any airgun. A new stronger and power tuned valve is on the way and 4 coats of spray-on truck bed liner make the plastic stock easy to hang on to. The "tuneability" of it is a tinker's dream. I like it.

No worries even I still buy FX.

Duy is buisser (sic) than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. The Nova poppet is crap and they use it in the liberty, Aspen/Freedom, and of course the Avenger. I'm also not sure he's still selling just the poppet. He does sell a replacement valve with a peek poppet that really wakes up these rifles.

I've got one in my liberty and it's spitting out the 30 grain BBT cast slug at 850 fps.

Ok I know reviving a dead thread but I know people looking at the avenger will come across this so I want to chime in. I’ve owned 2 avengers still have one. Neither ever gave me a lick of problems ever. Well guess what has a bad poppet that I’m going to have to replace? My (at one time) thousand dollar fx streamline. From reading it seems this problem isn’t uncommon with this fx platform so it isn’t an avenger issue only. Granted the part will probably be easier to come by from fx.

Update if anyone cares…lol. I took it apart and there is a small round part with a hole in it that threads into the action of the gun and I believe the valve pin goes through it when struck by the hammer. I’m assuming some kind of guide. That had actually come undone which I speculate caused the oring on the valve pin to be damaged. I’m hoping simply replacing that oring will fix it up. Will call fx USA Tuesday.
