OOOL! I was hoping you knew about the water beads, cheap fun! Thanks for letting me know that you like the Leofoto MH head as I have been eyeballing them....which size do you have may I ask? 🤗

We do a new paintball target every week at the Thursday morning shoots in my yard. I try to make the targets according to the season, a holiday, or a "National so-and-so day", of which there are plenty.

What do you use to hold the paintballs in place with . You could make pest looking targets with the paintballs in the KZ . Hot glue ?

I started out wanting to use hot glue for the speed of 'curing' but I think that paintballs have some type of mold release on their surface and the hot melt adhesive didn't stick to them.

We've ended up using a jeweler's/craftmaking adhesive we get on Amazon by the name of B-7000. Needs to set up for maybe 12 hours, but we don't end up losing 4-5 paintballs off the board every time one close by is hit (like we did with previous adhesives).

Some of my local Thursday airgun group will also make a paintball target on occasion, and those guys usually seem to use standard construction caulking. It works pretty well too, but is not clear like the B-7000 and can look a little messy. And an occasional extra paintball ball falls off when the target is hit.

You could definitely make KZ decorated pest targets. We normally use the 50 cal paintballs just for fun between 25 and 50 yards (the distances I have in my back yard), but will sometimes up the challenge with .42 cal paintballs (the smaller diameter ones are generally available as blowgun paintball ammo).

We have just gone through a period over the last 6 months or so where 50 cal and smaller paintballs were kind of hard to find in the normal bright color mixes. Maybe that's just a seasonality thing, as with Summer approaching I'm seeing paintball supply become more widely available again.

Example B-7000 50 ml tube which will last you a while for $6

Another hint: Paintballs with a dab of fluorescent paint on them and illuminated with a small uv light add some fun to your next airgun night shoot. Best to mount them to a board with a bright white or fluorescent yellow background so that you can pick up your reticle. And boy will you come to appreciate your illuminated reticle during a night time shoot!

Some of that would have given Picaso some real competition. :p

We've actually tried re-creating some real works of art. My sister made this van Gogh:

But it was just too much, and the paintball fill just wiped out the cardboard backing. It did last for 2 weeks with lots of targets to shoot, but no masterpiece in the end! It is why I now just go for simple line drawings. Live and learn.

With the evolution of airguns in the last 5 years I thought that 50 yards is the "new" 25 yards. Fully expected to see those paintballs shot at 50. Always more fun to have a "reactive" target.
The normal 'fodder' at our 25 yard range includes various cocktail pick items, small beads glued to toothpicks and shooting the heads off dressmaker's pins. For the targets on sticks, we try to whittle them first - take off an ear and then another, etc. until they fly. Then we have to cut the sticks before we can move onto the next full target. For things like the skull target, we first take off the stick above the skull ('haircut'), then try to just nick it to do a lobotomy. So we are giving our guns (and our older eyes) a pretty good workout at 25 yards.

So by the time we open up the paintball target, we are all ready for some easier, less precision shooting - and to just make some fine art!

Funny you should post this, just last night i decided that i better go and buy some paintballs for targets.

Have some of the water gel balls too, or snot balls as i call them CUZ that's just about the consistency of those when soaked.

In that regard as my grey goo work in strange ways, it immediately set off and was down the lines of some kind of mechanical contraption that would drop a paintball, and then if it was not shot while falling it would catch it and repeat that process over and over.
Just some form of conveyor belt or auger to lift the ball a few feet or 3.
And a magazine with a pull string to release a new paintball into the machine when the old one have been shot.

Not everyone has 50y or more. Plus I was trying to stay in the shade!
