Portable Shooting Bench

I like your design based upon folding saw horses. It seems like the base would be sturdy.

I used to use the first one which is much more easily portable. The basic idea is 3/4 water pipe legs screw into pipe flanges on the bottom side of a 3/4 plywood top. There are short sections of PVC pipe on the underside for the legs to snap into for transportation. I've shot a lot of this bench and it works well. But the 3/4 plywood top is somewhat flexible and the legs being attached only at the top also permits some flex. The last picture is my current bench. It has a 1.5 inch softwood top glued up out of 2x6 pieces. Legs are laminated 2x4s. It does not disassemble easily and even if I take the top off the legs do not detach from the stretcher. It is all mortise and tenoned together. The new one weighs about 40 lbs so about twice what the first one weighs. It is noticably more solid.
