This thing has been leaning against my shed for 6 months waiting to rot out. Seeing a different more cumbersome design I though about how I could make it for little to no money. Hence the pallet. They are available in most industrial parks and lumber yards for free to the public. The only money spent was for the screws. 2" and 3". Another expense will be the 12" spikes or sand bags used to hold the base down. Here are some pictures and instructions to build your own in 2-3 hours.
Broken down.
Centering and scribing for the mortise.
Mortising with a circular saw, hammer and chisel.
Test fit.
Adding feet.
Drilling for the spikes to hold it down.
