Possible air bottle for PCP

We've got a few of these at work about to get hauled off as scrap. I'm wondering if they can be used for charging a PCP. I've got 2 bottles like the one in this photo that appear to be brand new. A few others are metal and are slightly larger. The hexagon "plugs" in the 2nd & 3rd photos are marked "1.8K" and "7.5K". No doubt those are pressure ratings.I'm pretty certain these are SCBA emergency escape bottles.

Pretty sure they would make a perfect buddy bottle. If were you , I'd be ALL over every one they would let me have. I would offer donation in their name to a local charity.

Those that don't look too beat up, I'll snag 'em. I've been told to take whatever I want.

What kind of valve would be needed to make these ready for charging PCP's. I've not yet pulled the trigger on my 1st PCP, but getting prepped for that.

Those bottles only have a 15 year shelf life. 2 years left on that bottle. The REE number is very low which means it may be less likely to pass inspection. I wouldn't invest much into it. Personally I wouldn't take it even if it was free.

Those look to be the size of a cantaloupe? Pretty dang small. Not enough useable volume to get many practical fills out of.

Isn’t the ree number directly related to the size of the tank? I thought it was the max number of cc displaced by the bottle when hydro testing.

Paintball gear. Could work but your output psi will be below the 1.8K Burst disc. You can (likely, I dont know the brand internally ) reset the reg to a higher output -if safe on that brand- then you will need to correct fill.bleed valve.

Might be just the ticket for running a co2 rifle (with adapter/hose) on HPA.

Honestly they're only 48ci. That's a not a lot. If it was a 90ci tank maybe worth it as a pony bottle. But you're going to be spending in the realm of $200 for a 5/8"x18 adapter for each paintball bottle. I'd pass and just pickup a true guppy tank.

I am not sure. I once had a Ninja paintball tank fail inspection and the person at the Inspection place said it had something to do with the Ree number. I don't think it has anything to do with the size of the tank because I have seen many 68ci tanks with different REE numbers. I am no expert though.
