Powder coating - brands and colors that work.

I'm hoping this can become a sticky so we can compile a list of brands and colors of powder coat that work well. When I started powder coating I was frustrated by the results, and while I still have some that don't look good, my percentage is much better. Please also list if the powder is a TGIC or "plain" polyester (or unknown). TGIC is more durable but doesn't seem to flow as well as the plain polyester. I have three more Eastwood to test, and need to get the correct info for the Red from Smoke before I post details. Eastwood Red Wagon, Maroon, and Leland Cady Blue are up for testing when time and casting permit.

If you use a process different from shake n bake, please note that process. Pictures might be useful if you have them.

To start (more to test soon):

Eastwood Hotcoat Mirror Red polyester - works great, flows out to perfection and easy to get good coverage before the oven.

Eastwood Hotcoat Bright Yellow TGIC poly - not good, very splotchy every time I have tried it (not giving up yet)

Eastwood Hotcoat Lime Green TGIC poly - works very well when ammo is clean and heated to a warm temperature before shaking

Elvis ammo YouTube channel has a nice video with a list of 1-10 the best powders for the shake and bake method. Watch Columbia powders clearance for good deals. I bought some industrial ag green powder coat on eBay cheap $12 a pound or 5 pounds for 50 dollars and it is excellent. I have had great success with Columbia silver that I bought on clearance. I found 0 difference in 20 a pound powder coat and the commercial ag powder coat I bought on eBay. Silver and At green give the best overall coating. I have a Columbia coatings bright green doesn't cover nearly as good as lime green. My favorite maybe Columbia coatings illusion Hawaiian blue with Columbia silver it the last slug. Hope this helps someone a lil.

I am wondering, doing powder coating for a few years ( long enough to blow my Right elbow out as it was mainly manual )

Some times i have been painting with vandal ( graffiti ) resistant powder, i wonder if that would work different on ammo VS your regular polyester based powder.

The brand i have spent the most tonnes off are AksoNobel but have also sprayed much Teknos and CWS + a few other brands i can not recall right now.

Mainly using Wagner and Nordson applicators both E-static and friction charging.

Biggest things powder painted,,,,, just about bus sized,,,,,, yes my paint booth and oven was BIG

No intentions of ever spraying any pellets or Slugs.

Smokes PC powders are the best I have seen, I got no skin in the game, just good coverage and durability.

The Eastwood Cadillac Blue works really well, flows out really nice covering thin spots. The Eastwood Maroon is only OK, doesn't flow out great, slightly lumpy, doesn't stick as well on things that have not been cleaned. The 50 were not cleaned, but the 357 were cleaned in alcohol. Both colors of course worked better after cleaning the ammo, but the blue worked better over all. Both are TGIC polyester. The maroon is in the same as the lime green I have used before where it can be a bit lumpy. Both of these went on pretty thick, gained 0.003 inch from the coating so definitely needed to be sized again after.
