Power Tuning Mods for the FX Crown

Yes you're right, you can put a bottle adapter on block adapter, the block adapter just needs to widen the hole in it.

Only I don't know where is it vent/ breath hole from Crown regulator...

If you do this you will be the first with FX Crown who has 200 + fpe :)

Yeah the atmosphere port might pose an issue. Depending on the power output, I would probably want to convert it to .257 or maybe even .223/5.56mm, but I really love 30 cal!

i am having the same ideia, regulate the bottle and then remove the factory regulater and use a external plenem like the impact.

ist is doable?

Should be. I have a couple of ideas that I'm getting made to see what works best. I got a new .30 cal kit this week and I'm only maxing out around 108FPE, but I can get more out of it. Not sure what the goal should be though, maybe 125-130FPE 🤷‍♂️

Hello dear.

buy new my FX Crown Continuum .25.

I get the air regulated to 150 bar, but I want to maximize it and give the maximum force out of the barrel.

my rifle is factory stock but it's the FX Crown Continuum

I normally use H&N Baracuda Hunter Xtreme 28.6 Grs pellets with the 380mm barrel and sometimes Slugs NSA 36 Grs with the 700mm barrel.

I have not tested the output speed because I do not have a chrono but I already bought the FX chrono and I am waiting for it to arrive and try.

Buy a Huma extreme regulator at 170 Bars and TP of 2 hole

I haven't installed the 170 bar huma regulator yet and neither does the TP of 2 hole

I don't know what other advice you can give me.

Thank you

hello dear.
Do you think you could give me any advice to maximize my Fx Crown Continuum .25?
I want to install a Huma regulator @ 170 Bars and TP with 2 holes.

I do not know if I have to hammer the hammer or some valve seat.

a chrono FX is on the way to know how much I'm pulling.
Thank you

You don't really need a Huma regulator for 170bar with the Crown. If it has at least a gen3 - it can handle it just fine.

You will need to increase the hammer energy for sure. Porting is also needed.

I also have been thinking about adding space on the crown and wildcat just like they are doing with the Dreamline and impacts. It’s such a simple idea I, surprised no one thought of it before. Simple adapter between the bottle/air cylinder and your good with much lower reg pressure and higher energy levels on shot impact. My question is do we still need to mess with hammer weights?

The regulator is in the gun, your added air would be on the high pressure side of the reg no?

This is correct. That would only benefit an externally regulated system (but there are other parts that need to be made for the valve system in such configuration).

I didn't know that with the original regulator I could do it.
already underway
whats is Maximum pressure you have used and have good precision?
i ordered a hammer of 9 grns and another of 10 grns

Regarding the regulator, maybe I have a gen3 since the rifle is FX Crown Continuum and I bought it 2 months ago.

do you know what VS uses? Can I add a bigger one? or is it reaching the maximum?

I will modify the probe this week, I am just waiting to test the chrono before modifying anything and writing everything.

Sorry if I intrude on the discussion .... since in Italy it is impossible to find material to strengthen the Crown, where it is possible, via the web, to buy a heavier hammer? If any user has any links, maybe a European online shop, me can you indicate it? By hammer we mean the final piece in brass. Right? What weight is most suitable to buy? Is the spring okay the original one? Should the spring guide rod be slightly shortened? Sorry again if I entered your discussion. Thanks for any response.

The idea of putting an external Altaros pressure regulator, with the addition of a plenum, is a great idea ... The crown would turn into a kind of FX impact with classic stock. But to do what modification work should be done? The valve that allows the passage of air is on the carbon cylinder ... right? If the distance between the impact castle and the cylinder is lengthened, how can the valve be opened? I am a good wood worker, but bad for metalworking and mechanics in general, so I don't understand how it can be possible to make a change like this.If it were possible, I would immediately run and get it done.

I asked questions in various threads, based on the original topic being discussed. @ mtnGhost, I would, if possible, ask you a question .... where you can buy a 6.35 mm Titanium VS for the valve and where to also buy the right size derlin seat to seal the largest 6.35 mm hole ? If possible, European links, or ok also USA. But to make this change, is it enough to disassemble the rifle, replace the TITANIUM VS and the seat in the derlin, or are mechanical works also necessary? If it's just disassembly, replacement and reassembly, the job is ok for my skills. Another question ... But this valve work, how many ft / p or meters / second more to the crown? I am very grateful if you will help me.

@dani357k - I had good precision as high as 190-195bar using my heavier ammer weight shooting 36-40 grain slugs. Harmonics seem to become more noticable when I shot >=30 grain, but the problems were manageable. I mainly kept the pressure around 158bar and 170bar depending on the ammo (MUCH less for pellets). The power and accuracy was real close to 22lr, except the ES was a lot easier to tighten up than powder.

So just replace only the titanium VS and reuse the derlin seat now in my crown?

FX made a couple of different valve poppet sizes. I would measure it first.

Thanks everyone for the answers.
@mtnGhost, yes, you are right, surely it is better to disassemble the valve, measure the seat of the stem that must close the Titanium VS to be sure that it is right in size.
Mine is a Crown .25 bought at the beginning of January 2020, so I hope it has the correct size valve seat and I hope that the pressure regulator is of generation 3, which, from what I have read, could be adjusted up to at 160-165 bar.

My desire is to be able to shoot, at least for now, the JSB King Heavy from 2.2 grams (34 grains) to 85/90 J (63/66 fp / s).
If the FX pressure regulator, even if not very precise, could get to the right pressure to shoot the 2.2 gram domed, for now I would try to use this and only later would I buy a Huma regulator.

But even in this case, only by dismantling the FX regulator can I see what generation it is.

Speaking instead of the heavier hammer, what weight should I buy in order to get to the power I wrote above?
8? 9? 10 grams
