Other PP700 optics set up?

Ray, this is my Notos which is pretty much the same platform and I put this tiny Discovery Optics HD 2-12x24 FFP scope on it recently and it focuses down to 5yds, nice glass with an illuminated reticle TYD from DiscoveryOpt.us site no tax free shipping from CA I believe...

Discovery VT-3 3-12x44 FFP
— almost the same looks and specs as the USO 3-12x44 FFP

I recently dremeled an extension of the dovetail rail into the non-functioning shroud to give me more flexibility for mounting — a cantilever mount will save you the dremel work.

Killing pigeons out to 60y.
Even found the space for a Tactacam on this rig.

Great gun for the money...!

Maybe I should have been a bit more specific. I have the early "W" model, not the SA so I don't have the added mounting area above the barrel. But wow, I like that setup right there. 60 yards!!!! is that with a .22 or a .177? Nice rig right there.
Thx

I just took the red dot off to put on a new 2240xl. Will put the 2-6x pistol scope back on the PP700. Think I will be shooting the 2240 for indoor practice more this winter. I do like the PP700 because it was rare to find a pistol that is hunting power and can actually be shot like pistol, not a convoluted rifle conversion with a short eye relief scope. If I want to shoot a rifle, I have other rifles.

Thanks! 😊

It's a .22cal. — My fingers don't do so well with anything smaller than that...

With an extra long cantilever mount you can do pretty much anything, even without the shroud rail. I have a collection of specs with links for those mounts, let me know if you're interested. 👍🏼

I've had a 2x BSA on mine and now I have a 2moa red dot. It's so powerful for it's size that it's just begging to have a shoulder stock and rifle scope. I'm so torn between leaving it a pistol or converting it. I've read a lot about EFT and HFT and I'm liking the idea of leaving it in pistol form with a rifle scope and shoot it rested for accuracy. That's one reason I was curious as to what others were using for optics.

Thx

I am fighting the urge to put a scope on a pistol, It just don't seem right, But my eye sight does not let me shoot only 10 to 20 feet with open sights , Red dots are great if I just want to hit the can at 30 yards,, Maybe a cheap scope just to try out , Well maybe , I will have to think about it, and look at Y'alls guns and just see, Thanks for the pictures, I am thinking now..

I have had my PP700SA for about 4 years now. I had lots of leak issues, but once sorted, it has been excellent. I left the regulator as delivered regulating at 100 bar. I fill to 200 bar and can shoot 40 shots at a little over 600 fps before I reach tank pressure of 100 bar. I have hit birds at 100 meters in trees with this pistol. I have to hold over the target about 3 feet at 100 meters using the 15 gr JSB .22 pellet. I use a reflex sight with no magnification zeroed at 25 meters. This gives me a wide field of view of target viewage when holding high or low at short range, but I also modified a small Chinese laser to mount on the left side of the shroud. The shroud on this pistol hosts a dovetail slot on the side. I used that to mount the laser. The laser mounts with the beam just a 1/2 " left of barrel center and it is aligned dead parallel to the barrel. This laser is very useful for pesting mice at short distances, as the reflex sight requires a hold over guess depending on the target distance due to the reflex sight mounting height above the barrel line. I also use a 22 cal pellet tube to reload the gun. Very simple and relatively fast.

The scope on the 700 doesn’t appear to be actually mounted, may just be the picture though. If it is, thumbing the hammer looks like it would be difficult.

I’ve only used a red dot on mine but it works fine. I made a folding stock for it and it’s a really fun gun.

It is definately mounted. That is the scope that Ron had on it the day I test fired, and bought the pistol. That version of the pistol has both dovetail and weaver rail. Hard to see the dovetail rail from that angle.
