Snowpeak Pp700sa barrel question

Thanks everybody for always answering my questions. When I took my pp700sa apart cleaned put new o rings. During install I noticed that the barrel once threaded into action can spin if you keep turning. When you put the shroud and then the top barrel piece with holes and threaded it hold the barrel in place and once it’s fully threaded down, (top of barrel) it’s all nice and snug. Does it matter that the barrel can spin around the action? Once shroud and top piece are locked down the barrel does not spin unless you phisically are able to get hold of part of barrel and try to spin it. When it’s locked down there is no place to hold barrel. I think barrel is always able to spin in action once threaded to allow the top piece to clamp down on the shroud.
Does anybody with pp700sa have any thoughts.

This happened to me too when I took mine apart. I found my solution from a thread on GTA. Drill and tap the receiver for two grub screws. The grub screws hold in place the threaded barrel part so the barrel can be screwed in tight.

I’m not expert on drilling. It sound's difficult.
But do you think it’s ok that it’s able to spin?
Like I mentioned on top. I am absolutely sure that the barrel can spin when I originally bought it. Also I never had issues with accuracy.

If attaching the shroud snugs everything up, why is there an issue?

That’s exactly my thoughts. But I read people are doing the grub screw mod all the time. I guys this means that the barrel is moving even when the shroud is on snug that is why they are doing this mod? Or the added security?

If the barrel spins so freely that you cannot snug up the muzzle nut with a spanner wrench or needle-nose pliers, modify the receiver for a grub screw. Otherwise it doesn’t hurt a thing.
