Mo-Ron,
When you and others wash/rinse pellets, what is your process ?
I’m thinking maybe some Dawn detergent and swirling the bowl around, maybe gently stirring with a finger to minimize skirt damage. Rinse with clear water and lay out to dry or a short lay out on a towel and then a rinse in isopropyl alcohol to assure ALL water is gone, then layout to dry in sun or in the house for a day or two.

My preferred approach is to put them into a wire strainer and spritz them with a degreaser (e.g. Purple Power, Mean Green, etc.) and tumble and swish them around vigorously*. Then rinse well and pour them into a towel and roll them around a little to blot up most of the water, then into a toaster oven at 200F to evaporate the remaining water. Then back into a tin with your preferred lubricant -- White Lightning bicycle chain lube for me (the wax version, not the silicone). Tumble them in the tin until it's evenly distributed.

For pellets that have loose flashing and pronounced parting lines, the tumbling tends to help remove it. It helps with Crosman pellets in particular:

* For pellets coated with a lot of graphite (Crosman), also brush over them with a paint brush as you tumble if you want to remove it.

The invasion begins…

Well i do kinda think the " airpower" cphp are shooting better (way better) then when i got them at first .. i refer to the new packaged cphp as "airpowers" and old as primers..lol.

I agree maybe crosman had time to ober covid to fix , re tool, and maybe work some bugs out now after up and running for better quality .. (like needed a break on period). Heck. I posted a test at hya with my first tins of airpowers vs old primer and was getting flyers up to 7".. lol, crazy...

My new way is in the red fleece rag dump pelleys in the add dish soap water ( that dawn claims 50% less scrubbing). Fold rag grab at each end and " shoeshine" buff working rag back and forth . Then rince ( i rince over the cups to see how much dirt comes off ) so its easy to wash rince repeat if nessary). . then buff dry pellets . And last is lube rag .. lightly lubed rag add pellets and buff again. I found that gives less risk of over lube and not get lube up in skirt. If you feel too much just rebuff in dry rag..

I shoot the Crosman pellets the most, depends on the wind conditions. If my wife or kids send me to walmart I charge them two tins of the Crosman pellets, I think they are wise to me, I have noticed my trips to walmart have fallen off LOL! The cost is a plus, I can buy 3tins 500 count for $19.74 opposed to one tin of the boutique pellets. Besides the price, in most conditions with the Cayden.22 they just shoot good, also availability, I can buy them locally, and not deal with shipping. I wish Thay offered different grain weight options like jsb/fx pellet offer. Let's face it, if they don't shoot well, then why use them? even if they are cheaper? I see some commits about the QC from Crosman, I have had more bent and deformed skirts / QC issues with the boutique pellets, I think the lead is not as soft as the jsb and that maybe why Thay don't deform in shipping as bad? Don't get me wrong, I use jsb/fx/nsa ammo but, I use the Crosmans 80-90%of the time.

I shoot CPHP's 99% of the time when target shooting at 50y and below. Crosman changed dies earlier this year and the skirts are clean and the swarf has been reduced. I have a schmidt-ton of the older ones and side by side, the newer ones shine over the older ones.

When hunting/pesting birds, I grab the AEA HP .22 and fill the mags with CPHP's and under 50y, they excel at penetration but I can't say I have noticed any difference in knockdown using them over soft lead pellets.

I just bought a tin of the OLD and New styled lids, (today)
the side number are LHP22C003 for the Old style lid and,
LHP22D003 for the new style Lid.
The mold part lines are very pronounced on the Old pellets,
and very little mold lines on the New pellets.
I haven't had the chance to shoot and compare the Old vs the New yet,
and I'll test for the lead hardness in the next couple of days.

I tested the newest Crosman 22 cal pellets,
I just bought a couple days ago, using the pencil test,
the results came out to Crosman Premier Dome-14.13 gr-
6B Did not cut/5b cut=BHN=7/8 (new can just bought a couple days ago).
I'll add this info to the list also.
It appears that there is tin in these pellets also,
shooting/accuracy tests pending, waiting for the wind to stop........LOL

If you want to see the results of all the pellets tested for hardness, to go here:
there is some harder pellets than this............

go to pg #51 to see the list of pellets tested

I opened a new tin with the new packaging last night and poured out the tin on a soft cotton bath towel (old one that momma let me use) and roll them slowly back and forth a few times then poured them back into the tin.

It looks like all the swarf came off and the pellets are clean now. I was able to get some pleasing groups with them.

I try to knock it off a few times/ shakes till i stop seeing any in the bottom of the white cup i use . I do see better results vs not doing it or doing it once.

Suds job.. i forgot to add to above pics ..

I am trying to find the info on a test I did several years ago,
when I used my Model B tumbler and 10#'s of SS pins with 1000 pellets, and did them for less than 5 min, made a lot of difference to all the junk stuck on them and the mold part lines, they shot/accuracy wise, better than out of the can, when compared side by side.

Interesting. I would have thought the SS pins would have been destructive to the pellets, especially the skirt.
