Tuning Pressure Guage thread and sizes_ interchangeable?

I have an FX Wildcat MK2 and need to change the main pressure guage which I have broken by dropping the gun 😭.

To save puting glasses on an of every time I was wondering if I could replace with a Daystate Regal with its easy to see coloured sections? (And 1/2 the price)

I have asked Bagnall & Kirkwood who kindly replied the next day that only the FX manometer would fit but then I suppose they would have to in case of any issues.

Anyony have any experience or advice?

Certain gauges have longer or shorter thread stems which will affect the fill probe alignment on the dust cover, also all depending on how thick a sealing washer that FX put in when building the gun. Perfect example is the conversion to a Wika gage. On my two wildcats, Wika gauges worked perfectly on them. On other wildcats I’ve worked on, seems it’s a 50/50 chance that the Wika gauge will work. The stems on the Wika are shorter than the factory gauge stems. I know, throw an o ring on top of the plastic seal, right? Well, not only did the o ring not seal, but it now pushed the gauge too far out, so when the dust shield went over the Wika gauge it stopped right onto the gauge lens, and fell short of the fill probe holes lining up.

Oiter diameter plays a part, also. On the Wika gauges, some light sanding on the circumference of the gauge was required to allow the dust shield to not only slip over, but spin nicely without binding up.

Then of course, there’s thread pitch. BSP is required for fx guns, not NPT or any of the M8 or M10 threads that are out there in the world of pcp fittings.

Seems the latest offerings of FX gauges have gotten better. I see more and more pics of impacts, mavericks, etc., still with factory gauges on, and a bunch of mods elsewhere, so that tells me the customers are content with the performance of the factory Guage. You can always call on FXUSA and just get an updated one, the ones used on the MK3 platforms.
