All of you guys using O rings and washers please be careful. Yes, it solves the sticky thread issue, but it also creates a potential clipping issue. GeneT is correct. Virtually all of these commercial moderators use a moderator bore much larger than the exit diameter of the pellet. This policy does nothing to help silence the gun's report. It is done to prevent potential moderator to barrel misalignment causing clipping and customer complaints. For safety, you should always use an alignment rod every time you install a moderator. The test rod should be sized to the exit diameter of the barrel lands for about 2 inches and be long enough to extent beyond the end of the moderator. Once the moderator is mounted to the gun, insert the rod through the moderator and into the barrel. Misalignment can easily be seen as the test rod will not be in the center of the mod bore.
