prismatic scope for HFT

You do you. If you don't want to listen to whats passed on by experienced ft shooters thats on you.

However you are making it more difficult on yourself than it needs to be.

It's an experiment. Not sure it is one Tyler would have made since he can click in his class and thus wouldn't entertain using such a low magnification. Thus I did not ask him. Perhaps I was intrigued by the scope and needed to find a reason to add it to my collection.

I am shooting Hunter class - pretty sure that I am not making it easy on myself with regards to scopes anyhow.

FWIW - I conducted an experiment earlier this year regarding a scope for FT. Didn't work out. I learned. I also have a really nice rifle scope that I can now use in benchrest competition.

I have been out of HFT for awhile but really enjoyed it. HFT Scope selection is challenging just like the event. If the Immersive does not work out, you will have an excellent small game scope. :)

I have Delta Strykers that I've been using for two years on two different rifles.
My wife used a Sightron SIII this year
And there is a Khales waiting to be mounted.

I am still experimenting with Immersive 14x50 and don't use it for competition in HFT, but definitely prefer it in the actual field.
Scope manufacturer's power marks are very inconsistent, one models 16x can be very different than another's 16x. MTC Viper 4-16x50 has a very generous marked 16x power. Comparing powers of 2 scopes in a measured/repeatable way is also very difficult. For practical use clarity of fine detail is what matters wether it is marked at 16x or 14x, don't get hung up on the numbers. Repeatable, snappy focus is also super desirable.

Shooter's ability to focus is also very different, what works for one champion may not work for you, but it is a great place to start.
Scoring high is rewarding, but exploring kit and applying what works or is fun to operate is the hobby. Making high scores with unique kit that no one is using, sublime. Just be honest with what is working and what needs improvement and what feels right to shoot.

Good day thane, I borrowed SDstephan's 20x50 for squirrel hunting and loved it. I needed a smaller size scope for my P-Rod so I went with a 10x30 MTC SWAT.

For squirrels I ranged 3 trees on my land that I know I can achieve a good clean one shot kill with no hold over or hold under for one pellet weight. When hunting off my land I adjust the focus dial and as long as the dial indicates a setting between Tree 1 and Tree 3 I am good to go.

For indoor FT this winter I am going to have the MTC 10x30 SWAT on my 1701P pistol and use focus dial indication and target bracket height to determine the pellet weight required for zero hold over and hold under. I already have the pellet weight data every yard from 10 to 30 yards, for the pistol. The bracket data will be determined the same way using 7" tall by by 4" wide card stock. The focus dial indicator data will be generated the same way but by ghost ringing a sharp focused kill zone of 1/4 inch. The dope will be Focus Dial Indicator + Target Bracket Height = pellet weight for Zero hold over,/hold under.
