Prod Barrel

Hi everyone, long time reader, first time posting. Have a Prod on its way and have been doing lots of reading on the to-do list to make it really perform its best. One thing that I keep coming back to is possibly swapping out the barrel. I've seen many positive posts about the HF barrels from marmot militia, but they've gone out of business. Who has recommendations on where to look for a drop in ready barrel for a Prod?

Thanks.

There are still a couple of Lothar providers out there- JSAR might be a good first start?

First try out what you receive. I've two of the pistols and one of them shoots as well as any gun I own. It has nothing to do with tweaking on my part, it just plain shoots. I followed Ted's advice (Ted's holdvover on YouTube) and tried the .22 cal copper pellets- I can show you 1/2" groups at 70 yards.

It is very sensitive to shroud tightness, so experiment with that as you sort through your ammo preferences. You are going on on a journey, take your time to enjoy it!

I thought the Crosman Custom Shop offered Lothar Walther barrels? Or is that only for the 1720t?

Regardless, I agree with others to give yours a chance. I suspect if I single loaded mine & used a pump after every shot or two to keep it in its sweet spot it would group very well.

Mine shoots the Polymag Shorts & one of the H&N FTT sizes fairly well. I don't recall the exact size at the moment.

Thanks everyone. I have seen that the newer prods have been coming with better barrels, so that is reassuring. I fully planned on putting a few hundred pellets through it to "knock the new off it" before I made any changes at all. The question was really more curiosity since for years everyone was hooked on the marmot militia barrels, but I suppose they've only closed a few months ago so having a new player come on the scene that quickly wouldn't be realistic.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Predator PolyMags 16 grain regulars not the shorts. My PRod loves them and will clover leaf them all day long at 40 yards.

Might want to give them a try and see how they do.

Thanks

Ray

I thought I had read that the regular Polymags don't fit in the P-Rod magazine. Yesterday I loaded a few in a mag and they cycled fine. Pleasant surprise.

I was rough sighting in a new scope so didn't care about grouping. Look forward to comparing the shorts to the regulars
