Tuning Prod getting 20ftlbs after tune [UPDATED]

Nicely done, Redick

How many shots are you getting from 2900-1500psi?

Ed

Thanks bud, I'm getting a good 20 shots per fill per the chrony data. This is the 2nd Prod i was able to tune to a good shot string using 21g Baracuda Match probably could squeeze 4 more shots to make it 3 mags.

WOW - 21.14's at 710 avg is 23.7FPE. If you are getting 20 "good" shots (w/i an acceptable 4% spread) at this power level I know there are a bunch of Prod tuning experts who would like love to know your secret. Can you post a shot string?

I don't think I've ever seen a shot string over 23fpe for even 2 mags (without adding a longer barrel or more air capacity) w/i 4%.

I have the caldwell chronograph that uses the auxiliary cord to transfer data but the damn thing doesn't ever work. I post what was done which wasn't much.

Gotcha - so you know the string #'s? Or you don't know the #'s? Somehow you got an average, right? What was the ES? Without the string the term "good" doesn't seem to have much relevance.

I'm not here to argue over an airgun or prove anything bud it ain't that serious. I said what I said in my post. If you have a Prod do the modifications I did and see for yourself that simple.

No argument here, just like to see the #'s. If you can't produce them no big deal.

No problem man, if I had a better chrony where I could screenshot the actual shot data instead of producing some random numbers would be my ideal way. I just foreseen another problem if I went that route so I rather not

So after some more chrony data I saw my initial tune was inconsistent so I figured I'd try the Bstaley and the numbers greatly improved! The first line was my tune after adjusting the HS and Tension.

My Second Tune i tried 3orings and it tuned the prod into what sounded like a machine gun! I figured the hammer was bouncing around crazy so in goes 4orings.

The 3rd tune is more of a consistent string which should produce consistent shots. I lost 150fps in the process but gained what should pay off in the field. And that loud pop is to a minimum report now. Going to use a Ronin on the end🥴

This Prod will strictly be for feathers and squirrels and rabbit sized game only! Mainly backyard popper

I don't know what the ES or Average is so could someone tally up the numbers and report back?

Replacing the ER with the same velocity as the shot before you get the following:

24 shot string

Avg - 543

SD - 10.9

ES - 44 (8%)

13.86FPE

First 20 shots:

Avg - 547

SD - 7.1

ES - 23 (4%)

14.05FPE

Your Pre BStaley tune was 14 shots w/i 4%

Avg - 698

SD - 9.7

ES - 26

22.91FPE

The first tune was without the orings just 10lb Spring and more air flow which produced the highest velocity with fewer shots. With the orings i got the last two. I went and tweeked the HS for the most amount of preload on the spring before it wouldn't cock and now averaging 570fps.

I went and did more testing after realizing I wanted a tad more speed. Heres my updated numbers after tuning. I had to remove the Bstaley to get these numbers but accuracy is a ragged hole at 25yds.

The Prod actually shoots the 15.89g the best but I ran out so crosman was next accurate. I'm not getting 24 shots anymore, but I'll trade off for more knockdown power.

I also remove the RedDot and went with a compact optic to aid in the accuracy on shot placement. I'm still trying to figure out what I want out of it.

I think I may have found the best tune I can get without any modifications just spring adjustments and plenty air and pellets! 16 Shots gets me the tightest numbers or consistent string. I can go 24 shots with the last shot about 680fps.

Hi all:
I show you the data of my P.rod with its improvements.
- Transfer open to 0.1181 in
- Hammer feed to minimum.
- hammer spring tightened two turns
- rapid-70 regulator (no need to drill a hole in the air tank)
- Regulator set to 1800 psi

Average speed: 679 fps

Medium power: 14,67 fpe

Pellet: JSB jumbo express 14,35 grains

(3000 PSI)

675 - 679 - 675 - 672 - 679 - 679 - 679 - 675

682 - 679 - 682 - 675 - 675 - 673 - 679 - 675

675 - 676 - 679 - 675 - 675 - 678 - 678 - 675

675 - 669 - 666 ..... (1800 PSI)

Three magazines excellent. I believe that for the size it is; it gives me a good autonomy of shots.

And now, a few days ago, I received the new bullpup kit made by Rapid-70.

I am in love with her. 😍😍
She has it all: trigger safety, butt plate adjustment, quick strap connection ... And the weight is ridiculous 3.80 lbs.
