Tuning Prod leaking at gauge port - how does it seal to begin with?

I just purchased a used Maruader pistol and it leaks like a sieve around the gauge block. I tore it down and will reorder some parts (orings, etc.), but the question I have is the following:

How does the gauge threads seal with the gauge block? I have an Mrod and at least that has an oring to seal it. In the Prod is there anything other than the black goopy tape (ninja tape?)? Seems like a poor mans version of sealing something. I've read that yellow gas tape might work to seal it or is there a better source?

Check out this thread a couple of posts down.

If you are talking about the gauge block itself leaking then it's the o-rings on either side. It is difficult to get the o-ring on the gauge block past the hole in the tube, made for the gauge, without damaging it when installing. I bought this tool somewhere for my Discovery tubes, it is the same diameter as the p-rod tubes, and it werqs wonders when installing the gauge block, and allows you to do so, without chewing up the o-rings.

On the P-rod the gauge block is floating in the tube, it's seals with o-rings on each end. The block is about 1.5"-2" long. to seal the gauge to the block use teflon tape on the threads and that should be good.

Are you sure it is leaking from the gauge? Mine had a leak by the o-rings because of moisture that caused it to rust inside the air tube. (I had to ordered new tube) Moisture is a killer of PCP's!

But considering your gun is New it should be an easy fix. Remove the gauge and clean the threads and wrap the threads with teflon tape, reinstall it and check for leaks.

That's how I fix all my leaking issues on my P-rod and my compressor fittings.

Here's what the block and the gauge looks like:

I removed mine and installed a Huma Regulator and never looked back! LOL!
