Projectile test for hunting.

I don't know why people always shoot gelatin at close range, when the question is how the " projectiles " are going to react at 100 yards or what ever. There's going to be a huge difference. I just don't under stand it.

If a 110gr slug generating 180 fpe blows straight through the 16 inches of gel, and a 79gr slug generating 150 fpe with the exact same meplat only goes 15 inches, I can extrapolate how much penetration I can get at 100 yards with the 110gr slug, since it will be at 140 fpe at that distance.

Some people will never understand the reasons for gel tests. And I am not even going start to try to explain it as there is ample evidence that already explains why it is a useful measurement to estimate performance. I need say no more for anyone with more than 2 working brain cells. (chuckle)

And yet, I am sure some with 6 or 8 working brain cells (simply rubbing together for warmth instead of heating up by actually thinking) will STILL question the validity of gel tests for ANY reason... (heavy sigh) (chuckle, heavy sigh)
