Proper springer hold

Spent the morning before church shooting my springers which are a Browning leverage and a Gamo 22. Trying to practice what I preach to my son who is on a youth shooting team. Is there a proper recommendation for a hold on these guys? Tried to hold tight into my shoulder to which gave the resulting picture. I've got some heavy hitter powder burners that are similar i.e. a 338L and heavy 12ga loads.

All you can do is try something different. Since consistency is key, I expect that either a firm hold or loose will be best, since anything in between is difficult to repeat consistently. I don't know the power level or weight of your rifles, but that matters too. I don't shoot my springer much, but it is a HW97, a heavy rifle, with a 12 fpe Vortek kit. The recoil is noticeable, but not a problem.

At least it didn't try and pull your trigger finger out of your hand. When I was getting shot strings on a hatsan 135 vortex QE after about 30 shots my trigger finger hurt like heck. I did it to my self due to using the first joint on the finger to pull the trigger instead of the pad. Even as violent of recoil that rifle did it never did anything to my shoulder.

@brokeasajoke - I suggest a light hold on springers as well. The rifle is going backwards then forwards so you want the rifle to be able complete the shot cycle unhindered. Here is an entire thread on the subject of shootings springers. There is a lot of good information!
