Proud Parent...My Taipan takes down a Turkey!!!!

Okay first disclaimer: I am not the one who took this photo or shoot, sadly, but it was my 25 cal Taipan Veteran Compact.

The “caretaker” taker of my 25 cal Taipan Vet Compact went turkey hunting today, and here is the result at 30 yards. My friend said the turkey dropped like a stone.

Again, not me, but it shows what a Taipan can do!!!! My one gun left (minus firearms) and one I will never get ride of hell or high water.

Thanks @aractivities I appreciate it. Like I said it wasn’t me, but at least my gun. I introduced my friend to air rifles and now he is hooked. His next stop is Utah Airguns for his next rifle, wife approval or not. Lol

@l.Leon Yes, my buddy appreciates me letting him use the Taipan. At least for now the gun is being used what it is meant for, hunting. The sad thing for his wife he is convinced now he needs 3 more air guns, for speciality work. Lol..he has been infected.

@flinthack Yes my friend couldn’t have made a better shot.

Just for full disclosure....the Taipan was set at maximum power spring using a 34 grain JSB. Though my friend also has my FX chrony handy, he just set to near max hammer spring, sighted at 30 yards, but didn’t chrony the pellet. My guess is the pellet was traveling 800ish FPS and in upper 40s FPE, this is based off the numbers I got with the 34grs.

Very nice looking bird your Taipan dropped. The 34grain would have 'clocked' the roaster at even 500fps.

The head shot was perfect I reckon, did it just flop over?

Great shot regardless. Their head hardly ever stay still for more than a second so difficult level is high!

@qball, my buddy is a great shot. His record shot is a 700 plus yard shot on a mule deer, he loves long distance shooting.

Update: now the Taipan has two turkeys under its belt. My buddy said this time there wasn’t a pass through so I asked him to dig it out and send me photo. I will post the photo after he does.

@blackpaw Those are some nice looking birds. Looks like good shooting! Can you ask your buddy what distance he took the second one from? Their heads look small so those can’t be easy shots to take. I don’t know much about hunting turkeys. I can imagine they don’t sit still too long when they aren’t roosting.

@ezanaace I just asked and he said 20 yards. He got the turkeys from blinde. This guy spent 3 weeks stalking one bull elk with a bow last year, so he has patience.

Hello guys...I’m the FRIEND and turkey slayer...the first was 30 yards with spot and stalk head shot...the second was 20 yards with spot and stalk head shot...the Taipan is an amazing weapon for turkey hunting...much appreciate Peter and his generosity to allow me the use and education on air rifles...I’m HOOKED!!

@Ezana4CE yes I'm brand new to airguns....@Blackpaw introduced me back in the fall and I'm hooked....I just bought a Taipan Veteran Long in 25 cal on here this week and it arrived yesterday...love it...I have a Brocock 177 I bought from @Blackpaw as well and I love that too....cant wait to figure out all the tricks and tactics with airguns, but my hunting season for turkeys was phenomenal...one more turkey in the fall

Seems like a capable gun platform. Jus' would like a bit flatter shooting only accomplished w/ higher velocity. Looks like a nice hunt and clearly the gun is capable......although you claim you will Never get rid of it???/

I have said the very same thing however thank heaven for advancing tech..... I am always open to a Newer better Mouse Trap!
