Results PSA FT Results - May 14, 2023 (AAFTA and XFT)

We had another good turnout for our May FT event. We introduced a short 20 shot XFT option at this event, and had a few people try shooting XFT. It was a beautiful sunny day with a little wind.

For AAFTA, the Blue course was on our range, as it usually is, and the Green and Red courses were located on our sporting clays course. It was a long walk to get to the sporting clays course, but it was also drivable, as most people chose to drive over there.

The 3 course average difficulty was 28.4 (Moderate) and the individual course sections had the following avg difficulties:
  • Blue - 28.7 (Moderate)
  • Green - 27.7 (Moderate)
  • Red - 28.9 (Moderate)
Scores - Each course is a possible 20, and the 3 course total is of a possible 60 (ties are not broken):

The XFT course was setup on our competition range, and consisted of 3 lanes with 2 shots per target with 10 targets. The first lane had 4 targets, and lanes 2 and 3 had 3 targets. 8 of the targets were killzone style targets, and 2 targets were knockdown style targets. 4 targets were placed beyond 70 yards with the farthest target being a knockdown style mule deer at 104 yards. It's tough to state a difficulty when incorporating the knockdown style targets, but the average course difficulty is calculated as 33.7.

Scores for the 20 shot XFT course are (ties are not broken):

We learned a bunch from our first XFT offering, and will be making adjustments to our target tune and course layout before next month's XFT event.

Very nice day at Palmyra. The course was a bit too long and spread out for an old guy but the upsides were that the targets are well positioned and painted nicely in mostly realistic colors ( no purple elephants, etc.). The lanes were clearly marked and all of the targets were easy to find and in the clear. There were no crossed targets or lanes. Mike puts a lot of thought and effort into the courses and It shows. I appreciate it all and enjoyed the course.
