Results PSA FT - Results, Nov 13, 2022 - Palmyra Sportsmen's Assoc - Palmyra, PA

To cap off the outdoor season at Palmyra Sportsmen's Association, we had a challenging course, which was made more challenging by adding 10+ mph winds. I want to thank everyone that attended and hope to see you during our indoor season, and/or next year's outdoor season.

Course difficulties were:
  • Range Course - 28.7 (moderate) - with universal wind modifier, 35.0
  • Red Course - 30.9 (hard) - with universal wind modifier, 37.4
  • Green Course - 29.0 (moderate) - with universal wind modifier, 35.4
The 3 course combined difficulty was 29.5 (moderate) - with universal wind modifier, 36.0

There was a lane on the red course that proved to be exceptionally challenging. The wind seemed unpredictable and it showed as such on the score cards.

The course scores are out of a possible 20, and the 3 course total is a possible 60.

We will be indoors for our next FT event on December 11, 2022.

We also tracked scoring throughout the season at PSA and accumulated scores for league scoring. The November match closed out our 2022 league. Scores are calculated similar to Grand Prix scoring, each course loop (20 shots) assigns 100% to the top scoring competitors for that loop; everyone else receives a percentage of that 100% score. For example, if the top shooter scored an 18 on the Red Course, he will get 100 % for the Red Course; if the second best shooter scored a 16, he will receive 16/18 = 88.89 % for the Red Course that day.

The competitor's top 9 course loops are used to calculate their seasonal league score. The max achievable league score is 900. Matches from April through November (excluding August) were considered for league scoring.

The score count shows how many course loops were completed throughout the season.

The toughest match of the year at PSA, that wind was swirling and taking whatever heat you body had.

Thanks Mike, Troy and Rod for all the work and effort you put in at every match, and the practices in between. Your support has made this an enjoyable pass time and taken Karen and I from newbies to being able to knock down at least half the targets in the matches we attend.

Looking forward to the indoor season.
See you soon

Maybe some day we can get a dedicated air gun range, but I don't think we will see a dedicated FT course (like one that remains setup for general club member use).

Nationals could be a consideration at some point, but I think we need to get a few years of FT experience before signing up to run a national match. As we explore and figure out our land, we will get better ideas of what shots are possible and build our library of possible lanes. 2023 will be an exploratory year, and if things work out, maybe we run a GP in 2024. We will see what comes of it in the future.

My opinion on things is, if we are expected to setup 2 (or 3) courses for a multi-day match, each course should be on different parts of the land, and not one course that has a slight variation from day 1 to day 2. We have the land, we should use it to showcase a variety of target presentations.
