@flionbrian it depends on what you are expecting and what you will be using them for. It's a 2.5x base mag so if you plan on being in a jungle all the time or thick cover the 2.5x base mag is not the best. If you are medium range to longer range then they are pretty nice at those distances. Not saying you can't enjoy them close up though because they focus down to a few yards. It depends on the terrain and the intended use. If using just to scan and move around I like a 1x base mag. I can easily and quickly detect heat and if I need a positive ID I can switch to my scope which will be a higher base magnification. I really like my mergers though and will not be selling them. But I also have 1x base mag monocular and plan on getting another for helmet mounting. Keep in mind they weigh more and are overall larger than a monocular with a lrf. So if wieght or size is a concern there are better options. If price is a concern there are better options. If you like carrying around binoculars or prefer viewing with both eyes then they are a great option. They are not the best for every situation though. Also something to note is you retain zero regular night vision when viewing 2 screens because both of your eyes are exposed to the light from the screen. So with a monocular you lose night vision in only 1 eye and the other can still navigate and see some in the dark. Sometimes this matters and sometimes it doesn't. Situation dependent. Hope this helps. Lmk if you have any more questions.
