Puncher breaker vs. gauntlet vs.Avenger

The Avenger is probably going to be accurate but I bet it's gonna leak worse than an FX.

YEAH right... NOT ! ... I have the .25 at 50 yards its a hole threw hole with jsb 25.39 , around 600 shots so far 1 month ,and NO LEAKS ! I have not heard of or seen any leaks on any of the Avenger owners over at GTA that I know of , so its a bit pre mature to start saying this gun has leak issues ... I have 20 years in shooting pcp's owning a large list of them ...

It's been confirmed it uses the same valve stem and seal as the nova liberty which is made in the same factory and known to leak over time. It uses the same soft sealing material as the co2 Beeman QB78/QB79 family. Over time with higher pressure it continues to collapse until the metal sleeve over it makes contact with the valve body preventing it from sealing. I've replaced several for people who own the Nova guns and know several others who have had to fix the same issue. It would by no means prevent me from buying one but just a heads up to everyone. It will happen faster on the guns running higher reg pressures. All guns have their weak points. I make my living fixing those issues and have worked on dozens of different MFG products. It's not limited to just budget guns.

This just made me cancel my Avenger back order thank you for saving me from any future grief. I am looking to buy the Akela now. I don't want to look forward to having any such problems with the Avenger if that problem is bound to happen sooner or later.

All guns have their quirks. I definitely wouldn't have given up that spot for an easy fix down the road. You'll eventually have to replace parts on or service any gun you buy.

Personally, I would consider some different options.

If I were in your shoes and was adding a rifle in the $200-$400 range I would look at getting a refurbished BSA buccaneer and adding a regulator myself. You can get a HUMA or a Lane, Alteros, whatever you can get to your door for the cheapest. Because the pressure gauge is on the end of the tube, it will still work when regulated. Yes, you will need to depressureize the tube to adjust the regulator, but honestly how often do you need to do that once you set it up? Find one with a removeable muzzle break so you can add any moderator you already have.

The Avenger is getting talked up a lot because of the features and price point- but for $300 bucks how good is the QC at the factory and the reliability of the equipment at that price?

The Kral and Gauntlet have been around for awhile you could maybe land one second hand- if you don't like it just move it along

This is the route I went. Got a BSA Buccaneer coming. It cost $279.00 and its not a refurb. If I don't like the self regulating valve I can drop an Altaros in for $100.

This way I get a quality British rifle for around the same as all the Asian offerings.
