Will searching for a .25cal swage setup on a budget, I found a listing in airguns.com in the classifieds. JFranco had a listing with .22 & .25 custom weight slugs. The price seemed right for my .25 in 36gr. As a baseline for my FX dynamic 700mm with heavy slug barrel.
It took about 10days for him to make 400 of them up and for them to arrive from Puerto Rico to Ohio…. I was not even looking in the mail for them yet and they arrived packaged extremely well. (Took several minutes with a sharp knife till I even got into them.)
After first inspection they look really really good compared to NSA, Griffin, H & N, FX or Javelin slugs I’ve ran previously. Most shooting really well in many different weights.
I ran 30 random slugs Across the scales and was really surprised that 26 of 30 were exactly 36gr the other 4 being within 1-10th of a grain.
NSA 38.9gr vary by 1.3gr average over 50 slugs. That being said NSA 38.9’s @1064fps are my go to slug for out to 300yds for groundhogs.
I Didn’t go past 40yds as I was fighting a pretty bad 13mph crosswind and was wanting to see accuracy. After 28shots with same hold over two different targets I was looking at a 5/16” group on both targets. If we get a flat day I’ll check 100, 150 & 200yd groups and post pics.
But so far I’m super impressed with what I’m seeing. .25cal range was 24gr-76gr if memory serves me. And solid or hollow point dish base.
J Franco was super easy to deal with and very responsive with text messages. If anyone is interested I’ll post his info.
