Pyramid Air 10 for $10, and the PCP 24 Hr Leak service?

Hi all,

I was always a springer guy, but I was just about to pick up an Airforce Talon PCP and an Air Venturi RovAir 4500 compressor from Pyramid air and I noticed that the 10 for 10 service and the PCP 24 Hour Leak test were no longer offered as services. Have they been cancelled? I sent a message to PA but have not heard back.

I like PA, but I also saw that Airforce sells direct to customers, so I could get it strait from them. Do you think there would be any advantage getting it strait from the manufacturer? I will still get the Compressor from PA.

I was just curious on your thoughts. Maybe also any thoughts on the Talon SS as a first PCP? I like the single shot ability, I would probably single load even if there were a magazine available.

Thanks,
Jim

I've gotten an Airforce gun from the Manufacturer when they are on sale on their Outlet page. Today let's see... that model is on sale only in .177 and .20, and in black. Otherwise I buy from members on this site and Pyramyd. Pyramyd has free shipping on anything that expensive, plus their Blog has given me so much information over the years that I shop there first.

As far as thoughts on the Talon or other Airforce guns, I personally like them but acknowlege that others prefer other guns. Obviously you're not turned off by the style or single shot, so what are you looking for in a PCP?

Oh, and I've never picked the 10 for 10 or leak down but most of my gun purchases are again from the refurb page; I figure they already tested it when they fixed it.

I can say PA has stellar return, repair, and replace policies. That said, my experience with PCP suggests that all should be subjected toa 24hr leak down test before shipping. It doesn't matter about price. I have a BRAND NEW ghost that has a leaky reg and has been in limbo for nearly a month (not purchased from PA). It should never have been shipped.

AMEN!
You might as well just pick a gun off the shelf at Walmart if it is not going to be tested before shipped to you.
In fact, some dealers do test the mechanical functions before shipping.
Talon Tunes (Tony) is one.
Most certainly there are others

Just my 2 test shots

The leaky ghost I speak of (not from PA) was shipped with a very nice 10s shot string that was obviously BS.

I would prefer the vendor keep its fictional shot string and simply air it the day before shipping and verify leak status before throwing it out the door. I would also prefer the vendor to give a return (and I was polite about the problem) and repair priority over shipping more crap.
