Pyramid Air refurbished

First, I like PA and have had great transactions with them. I am considering a couple of thier refurbished parts. I checked with them and was told that these do not come with a waranty. If you search for "Pyramid Refurbished" you will, of course, find some posts about problems but that can happen with any company. My question is this: overall have you guys had good outcomes with refurbished purchases from PA?

Considering that the customer does the final inspection, items that have been flagged with a problem, returned, repaired by a technician and put up for sale as refurbished are PROBABLY better that products straight from the factory.

A friend buys refurbished stuff out of preference and saves a lot of money.

Personally, I worry that an item (refurbished or 2nd hand) might have been misused or abused by the first owner and prefer to pay the full price for new goods with the factory warranty.

Cheers!

I have had great dealings with PA on new things, even when it required a replacement, but the only refurbished I bought was a Diana 34 Classic in .22. I paid under $200 for it in 2024. I called first to see what they meant by "refurbished" and they told me it meant the gun was gone through and had new spring and seals. So, I took the chance. When I received it I was appalled at the packaging, until I got it out of the taped up/torn up box and discovered in was in a Plano hard case (cheapest one, but a bonus). When I opened the case my first impression was that it looked brand new and unused. On closer inspection it had some dents in the stock that perfectly matched the plastic support pillars in the plano case. Didn't really care because this was going to used in the field and was going to get dented anyway.
Second issue found was the rear site had to be adjusted all the way to the left to get it on the bull at 10 meters. This turned out to be because of the new way Diana grinds a bevel on the end of the barrel to hold the front sight assembly, which allowed the front sight to lean. A little filling and that was corrected.
Third issue was the rear sight would not hold elevation position. The two 2.5mm ball bearings designed to act as a detent where missing.
Fourth issue the cocking arm rubbed on one side of the stock cocking slot. Turns out the metal bracket on the compression tube hadn't been staked perfectly positioned. I just added a washer to the inside of the stock to correct the alignment.
Fifth issue, the stock had a hairline crack between the trigger guard and the stock bolt. Super thin superglue fixed that issue.
Sixth, seventh, and eight issues - I won't go into detail, but the rifling had real issues, the spring was canted, and the seal had a cut in it from improper installation, causing dieseling/detonations.

So, buyer beware. No warranty from PA, and for older Diana air rifles no available parts like barrels. Blueline is the latest distributor, and they are VERY hard to work with. They don't want to sell parts to individuals, and places like PA, AGA, Airgun Depot, won't order parts from them because they are hard to deal with.
I have no doubt they have some really good bargains from time to time, but this one left me leery, unless you can establish something like a three day return window, and they can tell you exactly what was "refurbished". Though it took me longer than three days to find all of the problems with this one:(

I am pretty mechanically inclined and buy used/refurb items frequently. I don't worry much about warranty, since I can fix/upgrade myself. If you are not the type to work on your stuff, then consider anything you buy a bit of a gamble. If it works and no issues, great you won the lottery. Otherwise, you pay for repairs and may end up paying more than new. You lost the lottery. Just my 2 cents.
