Pyramid Refurbished Air Tank.

So after a suggestion here made by a Member, instead of Buying a Used tank from Ebay for less than $100.00, I went ahead and ordered a Refurb 90 ci tank from Pyramid. It looked to be in Great shape. The paint on the neck of the bottle has some scratch marks "probably from being removed" but otherwise looked great. The Fresh New Seal is there stating that it had been thoroughly tested to 7500 PSI is there and ready to be Refilled! Yayy Me! Unfortunately It loses 1000 Psi overnight. Now using a Small Pump to air it up is time consuming. From empty it took over several hours only filling to a certain Temp and then allowing time for the pump to cool down. Now I was Told when I ordered it that "It will be all ready to go! You have a Pump and the Correct Filters so Air it up and Have Fun!" I did that. And it Leaks. So back it goes. I am waiting to hear now from the usual commentors about how I somehow "Misinterpreted" what I was told? LOL How could it have passed a 7500 PSI Certification and not been diagnosed with a leak? Riddle Me that! lol

Sorry to hear , bummer to get something and have immediate problems , but no worries with PA they will make it right i am sure .
P.S. i think testing is a direct hook up to the tank ,does not have the valve on it ? just a thought .

Thats the Plan. I hope they send a return tag so I don't have to drive an hour oneway trip to an actual UPS store. We only have drop off Locations here.

Because hydro-static tests are to test the structural integrity of the tank, it is not to diagnose leaky yoke valves, that would be a leak down test, which they should have done.

I Edited my reply to the effect i think just the tank is tested , direct hook up no valve . I think !

Regardless, this is something that should not happen. Hell, on the next one maybe I should pay for a 24 hour leak test like they do with the Rifles? lol

Sorry about the leak! Could be the valve, an o'ring or burst disc......glad you are returning it and I hope you find another bottle

I would just buy a expired SCBA tank 4500 psi off ebay the fill station for them is a cga-347 usually you can get the tank for around 50-100$ and the fill station for 45$

Valves are REMOVED when hydrotesting & a Hydrotest adapter put in its place (I was a licensed hydrotester for 30 years). The fault is most likely at the neck ring but even if the valve itself has gone bad Pyramyd SHOULD HAVE done a test to make sure everything was kosher before shipping.

100% agreed. Leaking guns and tanks are ok to send apparently.

My Plan exactly. I don't plan on working on it or anything else. I am sending it back just the way it came. I don't want to be accused of any Damage on an already unusable Bottle. It was at 4000 yesterday evening and now it's down to about 2500.

Same, could be a very simple o-ring that would be less hassle than returning but, we're built differently.
