Q?s High power 1.77 slug shooter,

TNT, site says 24" 10 grooves choked for the .25, (20" 12 groove for the 1.77) I get why for the extra 4" , not sure how the difference in grooves effects slugs.

good to hear all your findings

thanks.

I was going to get the 177 kit for the prophet but want to leave my 25 at the current power setting as I am doing very specific things with it. Thammer recently announced the reximex throne with 3 calibers and it will be an easier item to adjust as I need to pest on a large dairy farm locally. I will predominantly use the 177 and 22 caliber and try out the 12 gr slugs in 177 and the 22 cal slugs in 17 gr and see how they do. I have a kral puncher in 22 I shoot the .2165 slugs out of at roughly 920 fps and it's ridiculously accurate out to 100 yards but it's not regulated so no real way to dial it back. I use that one for the out to 100 and the 25 past a 100 on bigger game.

Motorhead

That's what I am talking about 1068fps in 1.77, BC of ?, and just got to be good bucking the wind.

I understand Nick is making a 20.5 grain, Have you tried them?. (if they fit)

thank you for the info.

BC @ .070 which is what Nick states. For the D.O.P.E. sheet it is working out really close with numbers matching POI thus far.

Yup, if shooting the 12.5's near 1080, the 15's 1040's. LW barrel shoots the JSB 16 beasts the best of all, tho lower BC.

The NSA 20's i found inferior in accuracy overall. power miens nothing w/o accuracy.

The most accurate setting and best use of air is with NSA 15's at @ 960 fps ... as shown 10 shots at 50 yards having 7 dang near make it threw the same hole !!

At that setting we're still crankin em out at @ 31 FPE. With the JSAR external regulator I can shift power up / down very quickly and easily.

I'm desperately waiting for NSA to come out with some heavier .177 slugs! I've tuned various guns over 50 fpe in .177, but I had to use Griffin 23 and 24 grain slugs. I'm working on dialing in my Maverick with an Alfa Precision 16.5" twist barrel at the moment. It has all been tuning up to now, so no on target testing yet. My best hunting combo was shooting the now extinct NSA 18 grain slugs at 1060 fps from a LW unchoked polygon. That setup was a laser! I will make a post eventually, when I get the Maverick dialed in and find out what works best.

The Matador R5M is a surprisingly good slug shooter in .177.

5x shots at 100 meters today. NSA 12,5gr @ 920 fps.

Navnessen: Very nice gun and shooting but how do you concentrate on the target with that great view? Wow that is amazing!

wait, what gun? Amazing view indeed!!!

Got a 500mm 177 FX barrel from an AGN member, will see how fast I can push the 12.5 grain without wasting too much air. So far it has shown great promise, the 15 grain version is a bit long for the twist rate of the FX 177 barrel, hope they update their 177 liners one of these days.
