Qball Crosman 1701P build thread

MileHighAirGunner sir, thanks for the tip regarding the compatibility between the PROD/1720T and 1701P tubes!

My Crosman parts were delivered today by UPS.

Ordered them last Monday, so just 5 days 😁

Pretty fast but I did order a 2260 wooden stock, hence they used UPS instead of their usual USPS courier.

The 1701P tube gives my PROD barrel a 22mm head start and ample allowance for even a fat LDC and with the filler cap in place.

For big items like stocks they charge $16 for shipping instead of the usual $4, just a heads up.

She is here!!!

put on my cheap scope and zeroed her in and zero issue with single hole at 15 yards which about as effective as the little scope is on a house sparrow. Chrono it and with 7.9 grain CPHP pellets I got 450fps which is actually a little faster than expected. If I can squeeze out 100fps more then I might now do any other upgrades to it. So far really liking the balance and the weight even with a scope. Even with out moderator it’s almost backyard friendly so with a little Atom it probably will be mouse fart quiet.

thanks for all the information and tips from everyone! Can’t wait till my moderator gets here and honestly I don’t see much I will do beside a little more speed finding a cool looking grip. Maybe a red and black laminate like Leshiy 2 grip.

Nice! If you can keep it as-is shooting 450fps you should get around 50 shots per fill. They come tuned perfect as-is from the factory and you may even get maybe even up to 60 or 70 shots if you don't try to fiddle with it you may even be surprised. Run a full start to finish over the chrony and try not to adjust anything. Check end pressure probably around 1500psi before it starts to string down.

Nice! I've always gotten my orders from Crosman pretty quick too. Even Custom Shop orders. Longest I think I waited on a custom shop order was 3 weeks. The last one I got in about 7 days. Like to see how your project gun comes out.

Danke, sir!

With the 1701P/1700 tube, it feels much better and more balanced.

Need to ring Crosman again tomorrow for my parts order that never arrived to me.

Oh, only one of the 12 items I ordered weeks ago (2 separate envelops), make that a month ago, made it to my door.

That was about a $100 worth of assorted maintenance parts and a shroud set for the PROD/1720T.

I might just replace it with a 1720T LW barrel, breech, and bolt, if they will give me that option, as I am not to keen anymore on the shroud parts.

Qball sir, in case you don't have the 1720T LW barrel part number yet, it is 1720-017 😁

I hope they have them in stock because I would like to get one for myself too!

Personally, I think the barrel change is a better option, rather than get another LDC to weave around your current glitch 😁

The TKO LDC looks too long 😝

I may need to buy me a Mini Belita 😁

My Tanto is too heavy 😝

I did bypass the gauge.

The barrel is fitted with a De-Resonator, lol!

Qball sir, you might want to sleeve your Mini Belita:

https://www.tacbro.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=foam

The 3.5" is a perfect fit in length and in diameter, while the 4.7" is a perfect spouse for your 120mm L Belita 😁

I have all sizes of his foam sleeves in pairs.

I dunno but a sleeved LDC looks cooler and protects it from bangs.

It also seems more hushed but probably I am just imagining things, lol!

Well, it may indeed be lesser in noise with the sleeve installed because foam is a sound-deadening material 😬

Does the 1701p front sight just knock off with a wood block? Got one used coming, so just starting this process. Wanting to use a thinner slip on moderator like the TKO, or one from Geo, his can be removed and reinstalled without damage, no barbs. Going to try & make some grips, ha, we'll see.

Blast it with a heat gun or hair blower first it you can’t twist it.

I like the sleeve idea BUT I most likely wrap it with camo tape once I get the longer barrel. Well the camo bandage tape which doesn’t fully block the vent, if I block the vents the huggetts aren’t as effective.

i do have an idea, what if I simply switch the barrels between my 1701 and 1720? I mean I don’t need more power on my 1720 anyways and the shroud should fit the same.........🤔

It’s held in place with a grub screw. Slips right off.

Well the 1720 barrel didn't go as planned. The 1720 barrel is 3 little flat spots for grub screws, the extra one is for the shroud mount, that little flat spot would of drive me a little nuts. hahaha

I'm going to drill out the factory TP just a little to see if I can get it to around 550 or 600 FPS, right now it's shooting a little too hot at 670FPS with the 1720T high power TP.

That flat spot on the barrel can easily be covered with 3 to 4 O-rings.

thanks, I’ll think about it. For now I’ll keep the barrel as it is.

on the other hand I tried to drill the OEM TP but I don’t have a drill bit small enough. The high power TP is 1/16 and that is the smallest drill bit I have. However I put the factory TP back and cranked up the HS a little and got consistent 530fps at 2800 PSI slowly drop to 500 at 2000 psi, shot count is a little over 30 so I’m actually quite happy with that. Not sure I’ll even put the buffer Oring mod in because it’s so consistent like @Odoyle was saying.

Re zeroed the scope and its pellet on pellet at 20 yards(on rest)! This should be more than good enough to kill a house sparrow at 15 yards. Really happy with that overall and it’s Uber quiet with the Belita. This leaves me with just waiting for the grip, might still order the 1720 barrel but kinda like it the way it is now.

Will crank the PP700 with foldable stock and Red dot to 700FPS for when another squirrel shows up, the 1701 will be for the sheer challenge of pistol shooting.

incidentally with the 1701 shooting at 500 FPS I got myself a nice assortment of 177 guns, by purely how the guns want to be.

1701P - 7.3g pellets at 520fps or 4.6 fpe

1720T carbine - 7.3g pellets at 650FPS or 7 fpe

PP700 foldable stock - 7.9g pellets at 700FPS or 8 fpe

PP700 long barrel carbine - 7.9g pellets at 900 FPS or 14 FPE

cranked up the PP700 long barrel to shoot the 12.5g slugs and shockingly it shoots them very well at 770fps, downside to them is there is no expansion at all so once I finish the box will tune it back down to about 800FPS with the crosman 7.9g pellets.

All my .177 barrels love 10g AAs and JSBs.

The 8gs are a close 2nd but I can do 1 hole (5 shots) at 25 yards with my pumper and CO2 equipped with 14” LW barrels 🤓

My most accurate.177 though, aside from my S200, is a 24” Crosman barrel 😝

Odd but true!

I have tested it out to 38 meters (not yards) and it was an epiphany for me!

Qball sir, what color of high power transfer port does the 1720T have?

The PROD, btw, has the blue one but I did order the red and silver to try them out as well.

Oh, and Crosman sent out replacement parts yesterday for the ones I did not receive.

This is the reason why I love Crosman, as parts are almost eternally available.

Still waiting for them to have the 1701P in stock—might get one for shooting indoors 🤓

The red TP in the 1701P and 1720T is the same part. All the TPs for the Prod, 1720T and 1701P are interchangeable. So if you wanted to juice up the 1701P you can drop in a silver TP or the blue Prod TP.

Tim Hill https://hillairgun.com/product/transfer-ports/ makes some TPs for these pistols up to .140”. Or you can try drilling them out yourself. Some guys use 1/4” OD plastic ice maker tubing. Trick is getting it cut square and to the correct length so you don’t have any leaks. Don’t know that there’s much advantage in going above the Prod TP in the .177 caliber though. I haven’t ever tried it.
