Question for Bobcat .30 cal owners....

A friend of mine is having issues with POI shift on his bobcat .30. The gun will be a laser at 50yrds on Monday and when the gun is fired 2 days later the poi may shift a 1/2 mildot to the left but would group. He then he tried storing the gun at different fill pressures to see if that made a difference, no luck. He told me today he fired a few rounds and the first mags was dead on through the first mag. The second mag the first shot was 1/2 mildot high and continued to group there. Has anyone had issues similar to this with their bobcats?

I had shifting POI issues with my 30 Bobcat's POI after unintentionally twisting my barrel out of alignment with the transfer port. I ended up sending it back to AOA and they fixed it.

I would suggest your friend try the following to see if any eliminate his POI shift.
  • Check for signs of pellet clipping
  • Mount a different scope
  • Use different mounts
  • Clean the barrel
  • Check the breach o-ring for wear or damage
  • Let the gun sit outside for 30 minutes prior to shooting (this will allow the scope and gun to warm up to ambient temperature)
If none of the above rectifies the problem, I suggest your friend contact AOA.

Another reason for the POI shift could be the mounts your friend is using on his scope. I had POI shifts but they were far more then 1/2 mil dot. Realised that the after market shroud I was using was clipping the pellets. I don't think in your case the clipping is a problem because at such high power if the pellet clips it's going to be far more unstable and its POI will be much more than half a mildot.

I also replaced the mounts on my scope and got a BKL series mounts since they are self centering and prevent POI impact shifts when you move from 50 to 75 or further distances.
