I purchased a Vulcan Tactic a while back but now I have my eye on a Taipan Mutant. My question for you guys who have em, how do you get a good cheek weld on the rifle? Looks like it would be incredibly uncomfortable to shoot with your cheek resting on the barrel / corner of the breech block. Thanks!!!

The breach is very smooth and comfortable.
I was actually thinking of trying to make a wooden piece that was magnetic (just like earnest rowe's cricket piece) that could go over all the metal, but have not found time yet.
my cheek wield is more toward middle back breach, forward of the back corner but not by much.

It looks like it might be uncomfortable, but it isn't. Buy a standard one while they are still priced at $1175 at Talon Tunes. They are easily the best regulated bullpup for the money at that price. I guarantee your Tactic might get used less once you get a Mutant

Wow! A lot of recent mutant topics. 4 currently on the front page. Are they coming out with a newer improved version and there's a need to clear out the older model? Is it expectation of the mysterious .25? I'm not knocking it, just observing a surge in activity and curious about the sudden interest.

Excellent point. When i talked to tony he told me that sale was to get the name back out there and to clean up all the mud that was slung (for good reason) with the shorty barrel/ "made in china" issues.
From what i have heard the .25 should be out this fall/winter. I have also heard that it will be of the same design but in .25.

I was looking at the Mutant a few months back and ended up buying the Vulcan Tactic in .22 cal. It has a very nice custom shroud, full tune and shoots lights out. I took it to the local powder burner range and shot 6 consecutive targets at 100 yards with five shots each - all targets under 1 MOA groups. I was blown away at how accurate and consistent that rifle is. I hope the Mutant gives it a run for its money

I did all the work, I'm an aerospace machinist by trade. The tune was pretty simple, i polished the section of the barrel where the cocking assembly rides, polished all friction parts, made a new de-pinger, the new shroud, re-centerd the barrel over the transfer port and tuned it for accuracy with 18.1 JSB's using only the HST adjustment. The rifle shoots single .22 cal holes at 25 and pretty consistent groups ranging from .300-.400 CTC at 50 yards with a 12x scope. The JSB's chrono at 904 AVG. I have a full shot string printed out somewhere that I need to find. Its quite a fun shooter for sure. VERY, VERY quiet, and easy to shoot teeny groups with.
I love tinkering with stuff, just re-aligning the barrel / transfer port picked up 15 fps for me. The rest just made the rifle a joy to shoot. The loading / cocking process feels like its on ball bearings.
