Question for the American Air Arms Evol owners

Hi there,

I’m really interested in a AAA Evol Mini. I’ve got a scope that I really want to put on it but the scope rails looks like a difficult one to get a correct mounting solution.

the Evol mini available in my country has the original picatinny rail, new ones have a longer picatinny rail partly over the shroud.

So my question would an Evol owner measure and share the total length of the (original version) picatinny rail.

also I would like to know the distance the magazine would protrude from the top of the picatinny rail Intihuatana original version.

preferably measurements in millimeters, but I can always convert ;)

thanks!

Hi Peete

I used to own an Evol Mini (original picatinny rail I believe). Sorry I can't measure it for you.

I had no problems mounting this Athlon Midas Tac 4-16x44 with Sportsmatch adjustable rings. Though I do see what you mean about limited space.

I prefer to shoot with my neck more vertical (less hunched over) than some shooters, so it never bothered me.

Hope this helps.

I have the newer Evol Mini 22 with the extended rail. I have an old pic with some measurements I did but it was for the overall length of the rifle. Not sure how much difference there is in the length of the rail. Maybe you'll be able to line it up. I'm stuck at work for now but I can get an exact measurement later if someone else doesn't chime in. Hope this helps.

There is a noticable difference between the two rail heights, and therefore the heights of the magazine will be different. As far as scope clamping options go, there are a good number of designs of two-piece cantilever scope mounts for sale on eBay and Amazon that will work great on the older design. I use a modified single piece cantilever mount on my newer Evol, with a more forward mounted scope because I shortened the rear stock and length of pull.

Do you also plan to use a Magpul PRS stock with the Evol Mini or a collapsible stock? Will you be using a side folding adapter as well? You'll have to take that into consideration. In regards to ring height to clear the magazine, I know I can get away with a 52mm objective, 34mm main tube with 1.10" (27.94mm) height rings to get a good cheek weld with my facial structure.

@Peskadot671 thanks for the information!! From your info I’m able to derive that the length is 120mm and to clear the mag 10.94mm would suffice.

plan is to keep the standard Magnum furniture because the PRS is a bit heavy and I want to use a FX folding adapter. The Evol is quite expensive with 3100 USD over here.

No problem. I think you'll be happy with the Evol Mini.

I’ll post some better pictures in the future when I’ve been to the range;)

but that scope is the IOR Crusader 2.0. Its a big one with the 40mm tube, but what decided me to get this one was the nice and handy illuminatEd dot and ffp tree type reticle, Schott glas and tactical appearance. I think that the size of the scope fits the Evol.

also went with the 15” barrel .22 to have more shots and power. Want to test the slugs in this setup.the really short mini would lack that a bit imo. The setup is still compact with collapsed stock and silencer it is less than 22” long.

Yeah, the regulator pressure comes out of the box quite high, higher than most. Not sure why. I guess for those that want 1000fps out of the short barrel !

I 'll be digging into to lower the regulator pressure on my Mini also, but I've not had the time yet, and won't for a little while. I don't want to take it apart, and have it sit, so I'll wait until I can do the whole thing at one sitting.

Yeah let me know what pressure your setting her at. And what degrees and CW or CCW does for the pressure.
