I bought a used Wildcat from the yellow classifieds for my new-to-PCPs friend. It came with about 120 bar in it and was holding good for several days. No manual was included. S o my friend finally comes down and we proceeded without the benefit of a manual...Big mistake. First thing, my friend shoots it with no mag inserted(it is easy to dry shoot with the mag in too, if it's indexed on an empty hole) don't like that one bit. So we proceed to fire it half a dozen times before we get a scope mounted, and see that the pressure got down under a hundred bar. so I go fill it off my big bottle and the air just leaks right out. Sounds like it is coming out way in front of where the valve is normally positioned.....maybe where the regulator sits? Anyway, it just sits there and hisses when I try to fill it again. It was holding air when we got it so I think we did something wrong, 1) can dry firing it cause it to leak? Can shooting below 100 bar cause it to leak? 3) how do we fix it?
Question for Wildcat owners, first fill leaks bad?

Can you post a photo where it's leaking??
if not PM me, we can brain storm the leak over the photo and send any oring you may need.
note:
dry firing and shooting little under 100b will not cause it to leak, never know Till reg location is determine in the air tube---it can shift, inspected for separations and orings inspected.

Couldn't the valve get stuck open sometimes when dry firing? I just had to file the sharp edges on the fill port to keep from damaging the fill probe o-rings but luckily I just received spare o-rings yesterday for the fill probe and breech. Also received my dovetail to weaver adapter but I had already installed a weaver rail that would allow my scope to sit lower than the adapter would have.

can't take pics; my friend took the gun with him (90 miles away) He has no camera. Location of loudest hiss is about 8 inches ahead of the magazine insert slot. I guess we could take it apart, but hesitant without a manual. anyone have a tear down guide or exploded view of the wildcat?

Steeve I will see if I can link the FX part list which is available from the FX site under 'Support" Plus if you do a search for FX Wildcat leaks you should find a post that has a pdf with for troubleshooting leaks for the Wildcat.

This confirms my deepest suspicions. Or, perceptions, as the case may be. I need at least three good pcp airguns and even then may not have one to use while others are being serviced or fixed. It's way too late in life for me to become an airgun tech. Greasing an O ring is about as far as my capability goes. %^/

Yes, on the air tube were the reg two large oring are.
main valve stem/housing as you call it is in the action at the end of the air tube.
i think you are asking if there is a vent for the reg on the air tube???

Valve housing is the nut that is located in between the barrel and airtube. In all other fx guns, not sure about impact, the valve housing is vented. Is it vented in the wildcat also ?
