Question .. hybrid slugs pellets?

I have a 25 caliber Maverick with a 600mm barrel and standard superior liner. I've tried tons of projectiles and many tune combos. I too wanted to shoot slugs, but haven't been able to beat the precision I get from the 34g pellets. I've tried MANY slugs, nothing over 33.5g since I don't have the heavy liner. Slugs that shot the best were NSA 29.5g, H&N 30g and 32g in .250 size, and FX Hybrids. All of those slugs preferred speeds in the 950-990fps range. The NSA's and Hybrids have close to the same POI as my pellets which is convenient for switching back and forth. Currently have my regs at 165/130 and shooting the 34g pellets at 910fps on PW7, 26g Hades at 915fps on PW5. The 29.5 NSA slugs are at 960fps on PW7.

I only have Impacts but in .25 I’d set my Reg to 145 BAR and tune it to shoot JSB MkII 34 gr @ 880 fps…exact same tune gave 950 fps with the Hybrids and only a 1/2” point of impact difference at 50 yards….definitely a good enough tune for hunting! I zero with the Hybrids @ 50 yards and the JSB MkII’s are typically shooting 1/2” right and 50 yards. Great for doing a quick mag swap if you suddenly need a pellet for some reason.

You may be able to just use them on the same tune when you figure it out. The hybrids are super light at 26 grains. At the same tune on my .25 avenger the hybrids are about 90 fps faster than the 33.95 jsb pellets. Out of my gun they even group in the same area so poi may not change much. I would bet you could set the pellets up to shoot about 900 fps and then the hybrids would be in their sweet spot.

This might be apples to oranges because I don't have anything FX, but have you tried JSB Knockouts? I'm having better luck with them in guns that weren't designed to shoot slugs than anything else I've tried.
The Knockouts shoot better out of my Maverick than the Hybrids. Using the same tune as my pellets the Hybrids are about a half dollar sized group at 35 yards, the Knockouts are a pretty tight group with one cloverleafed shaped hole, the pellets are generally one hole. Knockouts are also only about 1/4 inch up and to the right of my pellets.

I disagree with others saying you have to adjust your tune. I've set my FX Maverick VP .30 cal to shoot FX Hybrid Slugs and JSB Hades with no changes whatsoever. I get 930fps from both rounds at the muzzle, and enjoy the expected gains in velocity and energy when shooting FX Hybrid Slugs to 100 yards. I get around 1 MOA at 100 yards with the Hybrids, so they are more accurate than I am.

With that said, my only concern is you want to do 200 yard hunting. I worry about giving a thumbs up on that without knowing what you intend to hunt. My comfort level has me limiting my shots on groundhogs to 130 yards. It's just too much POI variance when it takes so long for the round to reach the target, and that is just gonna result in unethical kills at best, and injured game at worst.
