question regarding hunting

There are too many variables to answer this accurately. There are air rifles that fire up to .72 cal slugs that would take down a rhino. Shot placement, rifle caliber, shot weight, velocity, kinetic energy, and momentum and type of game are all factors that will determine the lethality of a shot. the heart of a deer is separated by a thin layer of skin and lung tissue. A well placed shot with any high power air rifle would do the trick but make absolutely sure it’s legal in your state. If so, there may be regulations to the caliber of your rifle, momentum of your pellet/slug and/or velocity of the rifle. In my state, Coyote hunting is allowed with air rifles (not deer though) and any caliber over .22 is not allowed from 10pm to midnight.

Nowadays you can also shoot arrows out of airguns, nothing more devastating then a broadhead on big game.
Bit of an exaggeration there, I can think of lots of legal PB's in combination of bullet choice for big game that are extremely more devastating than any broadhead. And yes, I've used broadheads both fixed and expanding with both bows and crossbows. Never seen a broadhead turn 100% of of a deer's lungs to unrecognizable mush and split the heart into many pieces, seen that plenty of times with PB's.

Well yeah I agree that if you want to turn game into mush there definitely better option, Rocket launcher ? :ROFLMAO:

But for a clean, devastating kill in the Lung/heart area nothing beats a good broadhead with over an inch of super sharp cutting power.

I just wish my state would legalize air archery. Yeah a broadhead in the heart lung area usually passes completely thorough and leaves a good blood trail and is quite devastating. I certainly prefer them as that season is much more quiet with many fewer people in the woods.

Airguns on big game?
You wouldn’t believe it unless you see the photos.
If you happen to be in Arizona or near, stop in to Airguns of Arizona and ask to e the photos of the African Trip.
In Texas, wild boar are taken with airguns all the time.
In certain states deer are also harvested.
Remember there a few airgun owners who are not allowed to own traditional firearms.

There are times when that would be a legitimate weapon for taking out pest/destructive deer. Deer aren't just for hunting, sometimes they need to be cleared out 24/7 like any other destructive pest.

But for hunting, without damaging much meat at all, unless you count rib meat, still plenty PB/bullet combos that put to shame a broadhead, and many pb/bullet combo's some people use that a broadhead puts them to shame. Lots of people in my state use 22wmr's to deer hunt with, go figure.
