Hello Folks,

In a couple of days my Yong Heng Compressor is going to arrive. Ive searched this forum for the question I need to know but never found anything perfect.

I am kinda stuck in which oil I should use. Some people say Hydraulic oil 46, some people say motoroil, and some people say compressor oil.

I have here at home compressor oil special for high working pressures ISO VG 100, but I want to know which oil will be the best for my compressor.

If anyone can help me out, that would be great!

Thanks

Any oil is fine. People over think too much about what oil to use. Doesnt matter what oil you use. I tried all the above. I cant even tell a difference. All the oil does it lubricate the metal rod/piston. Inside where the oil is, there is little to no pressure in there. some people will claim you need real high pressure compressor oil rated for 4500psi and not cheap oil for those 100 psi compressor. Which is not true.

I would go with the Hydraulic 46 recommended oil, its anti foam and remains very stable at high temp, car oil is ok but with its range of 10w 30 it will thin out. these little compressors rely on splash feed for the pistons so an antifoaming oil like 46 is perfect. no doubt you can use any oil but it might affect longevity and reliability of the yong Heng compressor. also regular oil changes are a must.

I highly recommend: "Royal Purple 01513 Synfilm Recip 100 High Performance Synthetic Air Compressor Lubricant"
Amazon has it, or if you have a local NAPA auto parts store, they should have it in stock too. It's about $20 for a Qt.

It's all I run in my compressors - Period.
I ran custom shops where mini, mid sized, and large/commercial compressors were used,
and that's the only stuff I'd fill em' with. A few extra bucks goes a long way when protecting machinery.

The better you take care of it, the better and longer it will take care of you.

🙂👍

I've been using the full synthetic compressor oil from Home Depot. Haven't tried the others because it works so well. It's $5 or $7, don't remember how much, and the bottle is enough to fill close to two times. Considering the pressure in the upper cylinder, my personal choice is to use the synthetic. We know the regular oils work, just my personal choice.

I just changed my fluid tonight to Royal Purple. MY Zbroia can hold up to 300Bar but my compressor has been stalling about 250 bar and not able to get pressures any higher. Not sure if it was a fluke but after I change the fluid it had no problem getting to 280bar fast! I opened the pressure valve there. I anxious to see on the next fill if it will get to the high values again that fast
