You betcha. I shoot my FWBs off a sandbag all the time. Don't need no artillery hold!"1BadDart"How many of you guys are shooting what are considered "recoilless" rifles? Can these rifles be shot straight off a bag?
I don't like the Doors or the artillery hold lol, but my 48 don't like to rest on bags. It seems to prefer a gentle caress. I prefer some Skynyrd , Molly Hatchet or Allman Brothers."JoeWayneRhea"The artillery hold is like Jim Morrison and the Doors .....WAY over rated
The philosophy behind it is solid and proven. Precision shooting (regardless of the type of weapon used) is all about repeatability. Artillery hold helps you with that. Even when you shoot a recoilless rifle like a PCP of a FWB300. But then again, it all depends on your definition of "precision"."JoeWayneRhea"The artillery hold is like Jim Morrison and the Doors .....WAY over rated
Joe.....try thinking about your next Wild Turkey while shooting, calms me right down........Gary."JoeWayneRhea" I agree with you my friend ...Repeating the same thing is the key to any precision shooting .
Too many " experts" fall straight back to the Artillery Hold to cure everything from a bad batch of pellets , loose scope screws , bad breath , poor Wi-Fi signal, cloudy urine, and unfaithful spouses .
Its a good place to start , as opposed to a death grip . 100 or so yearyears ago I used to be pretty decent with a Bow . The most consistent grip possible is the brain dead grip .
Just let muscle memory do the work .Thinking too much about it can distract you from follow thru and relaxed aim .
Exactly, it isn't the holy grail of shooting, we can absolutely agree on that mate. But (there's always a but), don't forget the lack-of-beer-and-bacon related issues, those can throw off any good shooter."JoeWayneRhea" I agree with you my friend ...Repeating the same thing is the key to any precision shooting .
