R9 75y try ( keyword "try")

75y with the R9 on stock irons and cphp .177. Them missed shots cant figure if the wind gust hit em or my hold canted, or random pellet . Just using whatever tin pellets .. oh well i guess it could be worse... Slashed holes are sight in so to say..

.177 pellets are REALLY wind sensitive...I was shooting spinners at 50 yards tonight and there was occasional 5-10 mph gusts quartering to me. That was all it took to push the shot off the 1.25" spinner...
Ya, after 50 there energy falls off pretty good. The wind here for like a good year everyday been unbelievable.. so bad im lucky to shoot 50. Use to have to beg for a slight breeze now you get sick of it .. ( just when shooting outside that it help this heat and humidity..lol).

Bit no i dont rest the barrel the 2ed sock is the pistol rest swapped out when using it , but they both hold/ rest the rifles when not in use..lol

Not bad with iron sights at that range. Its probably better than I could do. Give it a try with a scope.
A while back just for fun I tried shooting my .22 cal HW95 off the bench with a scope out to 90 yards. The groups were nothing to brag about but once I had the right hold over I was able to keep all my shots on a paper plate.
Ill tell ya , but not scoping past 30y cleaned things up.. matter of fact ive never liked scoping a hw/r9. Far less issues and never have to set a stock screw . Did not even need loctite for a long time .. put a scope on one and near instant everything falls apart the feel and sound / shotcycle just changes ..lol. No scope they dont loosen up till i take a screwdriver to them.. go figure. I do have a dab of blue now from age ,shot count, and the taking ot a part a lot over time .. anyway never been a scope/ optic guy..

Anyway this is old back when i got perfect near no wind days with it

Ya,. Now i wonder if my eyes can even see that anymore .. or of these new airpower cphp can hang that today..

Hw does got a good .177 far less finiky then .22 out of the box. Not that id turn one down..lol

Your right about not wanting to use a scope on your R9. I have a Williams peep sight on my other HW95 and have been really enjoying using it. Like you said it's a simpler set up with less to go wrong.
Agreed, I haven’t had a scope on any of my air rifles in over a year now they’re just gathering dust. So much more enjoyable, shooting open sites or peeps.

Just my opinion and not trying to change anyone else's opinion, but, 75 yds. is a long distance for a .177 cal. air rifle especially in even a gentle wind and with iron sights, so I applaud your efforts and your ability to put shots on paper with break barrel rifle.
Clint Eastwood said it best in one of his action movies, he said "A man has to know his limitations", I'll ad to that with "A man should also recognize the limits of his tools".
For a break barrel rifle (An excellent one at that) using small caliber lead pellets, in windy conditions, you did a great job of shooting, if you want a better result, you might want to invest in a heavier caliber rifle with better optics, you just can't win the Indy 500 with a stock Honda Accord, just saying.

Dont the honda engine win it oftin?..lol
Good shooting and good post! Pics and a range report are always good. If I ever get another HW95 I'll try to get a standard stock. I can't use my Luxus stock with open sights to save me.
Dont get why all the years with all the compliment on the stock comb and trigger reach they dont adjust the stocks for any of that..

Or maybe like how to kerp the screws tight thay cant figure out how to ..lol

Oh.. also i think the standard stock has been retired . Its now looking like the lexus oe that new style. ( Maybe the comb and reach was addressed on them ?). Hw's home site dont even show a standard stock anymore..

So this morning 2ed cup first shots try

Nor much daylight yet so a slightly larger bulls (crosman tin lid).

That picture in the first post i was kinda going right but this morning ots linda left .. i assume the wind change or the sand still in my eyes? Maybe i need a whole pot or 2 more coffee yet?

i would have to drive 10 miles to shoot at the range , so 40 meters is fine with me most of the time .
Last time i went to the range a guy was shooting a .223 , you can feel the percussion all over your body when he shot .
Soon the .22 only range will open , 15 benches and 50 & 100 yards and 300 feet away from centerfire range .

That would be a distraction for me as well. Heck now shooting pb's myself the noise i can do without. Making a shot at somthing is one thing but several shots just start working on my nerves and ears anymore.. just makrs air guns more enjoyable now a days..
