Rabbit at 15 yards right now

I give all rabbits a pass in my yard. They are sort of like my pets.
They don't do any damage and I have even named a few of them.
Of course, they are tasty eating, but I simply don't have the heart to shoot them for food, for now.

Rare to see in my Florida yard so pass until numbers rebound. Unfortunately, lots of natural predators around. WM

Cottontails get a pass in my yard. I have shot a few while dove hunting in the past though.

Cottontails will chew the wires around the engine of your car/truck. Ask me how I know. Sadly, the many in my yard are so slow to move that it just doesn't seem sporting to shoot them. I just try to keep my vehicles in my garage.

I let him walk/hop. The rabbits here (CO) have fleas that carry the Bubonic plague. We had one human case of the plague last year. If I see a skunk or raccoon during the day, I shoot, as they are almost surely rabid. I actually would have never thought of hunting skunks until I talked to one of my neighbors after seeing a trap in his yard. When I asked him what he did with them when he trapped them, he said he covers the trap in a black tarp and puts it in the 100+ degree sun and lets it die. I know that hunting them would be much more humane than letting them be killed that way.

I wouldn’t shoot one just for fun. They’re too good of table fare to waste! Wait until winter (less parasites).

if they aren't in season and aren't causing any harm to say a garden or something, I give them a pass. but, if its small game season....

If I wait until winter there will be trees and berry canes that die to fill their needs. That and the squirrels have cost me greatly. No Pass! B.

You are funny. Never saw one eat the bark off a tree or shrub? They will girdle a tree or just plain eat off the base of a berry cane. B.

At my place I thin, had seven nests full of babies all at one time a few years ago.
At my neighbors I shoot them all, big garden, lot's a flowers. No matter how many I shoot they show up fairly regularly though.

No I guess I haven’t. Don’t have an abundance of them around my house though. When I need one for dog training, I have to find a friend in town to trap them. They’re all over the neighborhoods in town.

I whack them all, when you see one just figure there are more. They reproduce like weeds if not exterminated, as a matter of fact I shot a female yesterday. But the week before I got two males, one was doing nasty's to her, should of shot her first. One got thru the neighbors fence and he found him--great neighbor btw. Bottom picture is the female

Zeke did you cut the hide off of the neck on the second picture or did the slug blow it off ? I have to say that gun and slug combo is just crazy, you need to name that gun "Wicked" lol

It was the slug... Took him home and cleaned him. Slug also broke his neck as well as clearing out all the gray matter in his head
