wellllll.....i like it even more now lol.....

just tried a couple nielsen 17.5gn .216 slugs i had laying around,
just rested against a floppy screen door,
at 13yds it put them all into a hole slightly bigger than a .25cal pellet.

at least its showing promise

i just threw on an amazon cheapie 4-16xAO for now.

if she proves herself worthy,
ill buy her some flavor of FFP in the near future lol

still havent got a day to get out without 20mph winds ugh.

but this thing likes all the ammo ive thrown at it.

the 2 best at 13yds so far have been,

jts dead center 18gn @ 901fps
jsb monster redesign 25.39 @ 780fps

both will put a full mag (12 rounds)
through a nice round hole the size of an aspirin or so

reg is just alright,i have it set at about 130bar
if i leave it sit for 10 min or so it will creep up about 5-7bar,
but then it stops and does not go higher,
since its new maybe with use it will settle down.

i would love to know if i could get a huma or lane for it,
i feel it deserves it with as good as it has been shooting for me.

im also going to play with the. 25 barrel soon,
really have only been shooting the .22 barrel.

Is there a way to adjust the hammer spring? I'm looking at the manual and it looks like there's a LONG spring with a small grub screw on the end,

after you take it out of the stock,
the hammer spring adjustment is the large silver flathead l,
it will only go out so far,
and will only go in so far.

the grub and screw hold a sort of spring guide that the spring fits over,
and turning the flathead pushes the guide forward to increase hammer spring tension.

BUT!!!!

even if you run the reg up over 150bar,
the hammer spring is too strong,
even backed out all the way,

so i took the small guide cup off the hammer adjustment and put the screw back in so it still had a guide,
this allowed the spring to expand another 1/8th inch or so,and in turn decrease the hammer tension slightly.

but with the "spring cup" removed there are no adjustments to be had,
so i just tuned the reg to the pressure that gave me a flat shot string,
(in .25 with the 25gn im right at 130bar)

its not a powerhouse,
maybe with a bigger plenum it could be,
i have the .25 barrel on it,
running the jts dead center 25.39gn,
and its pushing them to 830fps but the string is so flat.

reg takes alot of shooting to get it to settle down,
mine would creep nearly 20bar in 15 min
but its getting better now after 600+ rounds through it.

Thanks for the response! I'm interested, but am still curious about a few things.

So, in the diagram, #125 is the fat flathead screw that is captive by #124. You take out #125 (or remove #124 through some sort of magic), remove #126 and put #138 back into #125. Now #125 goes back and forth, but the spring now fetches up against something in #124.

It looks like a thinner hammer spring might be useful. Warranty? What's that?

The trigger looks like a backwards Avenger trigger, so the back grub screw (#145) tightens or loosens the spring, and the front grub screw sets the travel. Turning the back #145 screw in makes the spring feel weaker, and turning the front screw in makes the trigger lighter. Is that correct?

I don't see any bleed screw, so it looks like you let the air out by taking off the bottle and either dry firing the gun to empty the plenum, or backing the regulator gauge out to let the air out.

Finally, did you try out the power adjustment switch?

ok lets see...

1. yes i removed part #126 and put the other pieces back together,
the spring now butts up against part #124,
but still has the post going into the spring to hold it in place,but turning the spring tension screw now doesnt do anything.

it allows the spring to weaken slightly,
ill be getting an assortment of slightly lighter weight springs,
and will put 126 back in so i have adjustment.

gotta make do with what you have onhand lol


2. i see 2 parts labeled 145, but the one to the REAR of the gun is the second stage/sear engagement,and the one to the FRONT of the gun is for the first stage travel,
i also installed a lighter weight sear spring (#284) the factory one was beastly heavy.
also on the trigger linkage near the trigger there is a return spring,
i replaced it with a lighter one also.

3. to degas unscrew the bottle,then bleed the gun by loosening the reg gauge,

-BUT-

to adjust the reg (go in the tiniest increments that you can! its VERY sensitive,
ask me how i know lol))

remove the stock,remove the trigger linkage,
there will be 2 hex screws on the bottom of the reciever where the block with the reg gauge and valve slides into the reciever,
take out those 2 screws and the whole pressurized assembly comes out,
then unscrew the bottle,
and use the included wrench to unscrew the reg from the plenum,brass screw in the middle is the adjustment.

4. power lever works,but its just chokes off the transfer port so i leave it all the way open.

If I get one, I'll get the one with the external regulator. Ares has them. From my Avenger experience, they are the same; you can increase with the knob, but you have to be empty of compressed air to decrease or else you'll damage the regulator. Not your problem, since you're disassembling it to get to the regulator anyway.

Starlingassn thank you for being the guinea pig. I have been following your posts and today I got a deal I could not pass up. I purchased the wood version with new style regulator- 2 barrels- mod and everything else that comes with the gun for $425.00 delivered to my house from ARES. I plan on changing bottle to 5800cc carbon fiber and doind trigger adjustments as you posted. Please kepp up the good work and thank you for sharing.

ok,talked to aires,(zach is a good dude)

he sent me a new regulator,
but it is the external reg version.

had to take my bottle valve out,NOT fun lol,
and replace it with the one he sent
(the 2 styles of regs can't interchange bottles, as the threads are different)

reg is holding good now,
thinking about throwing the .22 barrel back on to try and get some lighter slugs up to speed.

but just may keep it in .25.

decisions decisions lol

after reinstalling the hammer spring adjuster pieces i removed,
one full turn in on the adjuster and it reached its max fps for that reg setting,
took 25gn kings to 877fps at 160bar on the reg,
so the .22 barrel should be able to get some of the lighter slugs into low to mid 900's

Lets hope ARES has good customer service. I ordered the wood stock model and received the camo. I emailed them picture and issue waiting for a response.
